COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
That time of year when the light fades away. Brewed for the darkness, Fade to Black speaks in volumes. Welcome to Volume 4, the Beer pours pitch black with an off white head. Citrus (bergamot) and roast dominates the nose. Slight sweet malt gets pushed back by initial citrusy hops followed by powerful Italian Amaro, gentian and hop bitterness. Finishing with a pleasant duality of dry roasted malts and hop bitterness.

thomat (4089) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - MAY 27, 2013
On tap @ Haket. Very dark brown with a small tan head. Malty with citrus notes. Malt, fruit, hops and licorice. Medium body with a nice, dry and roastef after taste.

AirForceHops (7676) - Epping, New Hampshire, USA - MAY 26, 2013
Draft @ Meadhall, Cambridge, MA. Pitch black with a thin ring of white head. Real inviting aroma of roast, citrus and chocolate malts. The flavor doesn’t surprise you, much the same as the nose yet… really nothing stands out and seems muddled. The roast, pine and citrus has no real flow. This needs some fine-tuning to be a real good brew. Overall, just another black IPA that gets lost in a sea of other black ales.

rubbishystuff (2537) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAY 23, 2013
UPDATED: JUN 26, 2016 Thanks to iNBe. This tasted must more like a export stout or baltic porter than an black IPA. The hops were prominent but it seemed like the liquoricey malty chewiness dried fruit and booze came through a little more. Serving: Bottle

Torrefacto (1727) - Madrid, SPAIN - MAY 9, 2013

DSG (15119) - Tel Aviv, ISRAEL - APR 28, 2013
Bottle sample at a tasting at Dancing Camel. Thanks zvikar. Dark brown to black with a beige head. Aroma of weird fruitiness and a bit of roastiness. Roast flavor, a bit sweet, with a bitter finish with some hops. Medium-bodied. Decent, but doesn’t feel like a black IPA - not enough hops.

4.1
Lore (2863) - Budapest, HUNGARY - APR 21, 2013
deep brown colour, some quickly disappearing brownish head; aroma of fresh american hops with grapefruit and roasted malt; taste of roasted malt, hops with citrus notes - such like a mix of an IPA and a porter
