Summer is over, but cheer up pretty people, it’s time for the newest installment in our Fade to Black Series. This Rye Ale boasts a deep dark brown body with an off white head. This dark brew envelopes your nose with aromas of dark coffee, maple wood and hints of dark agave nectar. The flavor is an intense evolution that starts off with nut bread flowing into molasses followed by a taste of licorice. This lands on spicy rye notes all before being washed away by earthy hop, leaving behind a slight black pepper sensation. So put away the bathing suit, pop a bottle of this black beauty and watch summer fade way.

Bottle from systembolaget sweden. Small brown head. Big chocolate aroma with a small fruity tuch. Smooth chocolate taste and balanced bitterness. Medium body.

12/22/13- Pours dark brown/black with a 2 inch tan head. Head retention is good, and there’s also a lot of lacing. The brew smells like roasted malt, dark/rye bread, nuts and some coffee. It tastes like roasted and burnt/charred malt, bittersweet chocolate, dark/rye bread, nuts, and a bit of molasses and coffee. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it’s a bit slick and coating, with moderate carbonation. Overall another good beer from the Fade To Black Series.

Did not even know there were different versions. The bottle does not say much. It was dark and graspy and quite nice to drink.

Comes out of tap coffee brown with a thin tan head. Smoky aroma has coffee, chocolate, and rye notes - rich and very tempting! Bold flavor has roast malt, quality coffee, toasty rye, earthy, and nutty notes. A winner! Heavy mouthfeel has some good fizz. This is a must.

Draft at Third Base. Pours black with small tan head and rings of lacing. Nose is roasted grain. Taste is coffee and chocolate. Lasting bitterness in the aftertaste.

[6143-20140124] Bottle. Burnt grainy coffee roast aroma. Hazy, dark brown body with a quick foamy off-white head. Coffee roast flavour has a mild cigarettes burnt wood note. Medium-full body. Average, seems like a porter. (6/3/7/3/13) 3.2
