COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Imagine Robert DeNiro sitting in your darkened parlour near the fire in his Louis Cyphre persona smoking a Tuscan cigar. This may be the beer with which to save (or lose) your soul. Dried fruit flavors entwined with smoky pepper and licorice embossed on roasty malt sweetness open on your tongue as the slow warmth of chilis creep up on your tongue and throat, finishing in an herbal smoke ring flourish.

Pours dark brown to black with fluffy tan head. Smell hints of chocolate and pepper. Tastes of chocolate (standard for porters) and has a hint of pepper at the end. Medium-bodied with a slick, smooth and soft mouth-carbonation, Left Hand Fade to Black Volume 3: Pepper Porter finishes with some pepperiness that lingers a while.

The color is perfect and the fragrance promises lots of smoked chiles. There is a lot more depth to the flavor than just chiles, though. There’s bittersweet chocolate, anise, and the smoky chiles. There is some subtle heat, and at just a touch under 2000 Scoville units, that puts it at about the same as a poblano. It’s just enough that you know it’s got chiles in it. Smooth, complex, drinkable, and just enough heat to have you know this is something unique.

Nice milky malty smell, appearance is pitch black with a thin fading head. Taste is a nice smokey malted at first in back of throat fades into a mild burn. Almost like drinking a nice burger with hot peppers on it. I drank alone, it was really awesome. With a good burger this would be phenominal.

Sexy nose of smoked chipotle peppers and brown sugar. Jet black, thin tan mocha head. Robust, dense, smoky, hints of heat. Chewy burnt backbone, creamy texture, all around awesome. What a great time for beer!

Black with a thin tan head. Aroma is sweet and malty, some licorice in the nose. Flavor is also fairly sweet licorice malt. However, the pepper kicks in underneath the sweetness to provide a pleasant afterburn. Great beer, much better than others I’ve had with pepper as a component. Great companion for food with a sweet and spicy component.
