Last bottle from Wine World, Whew! Pours a deep dark red with a medium creamy head. Scent is roasted malts and chocolate. Taste is dark chocolate and rye with coffee. Nice. puzzl (3258) - New York, New York, USA - JUL 14, 2009
Bottled, sent as an extra from someone in a trade. Straight up, this is the creamiest beer I have ever drank in my life. It is almost unreal. The head itself is like whipped cream, but even after that has faded the body remains so utterly smooth and creamy... mmmm. Lovin’ it. Great flavor, with mild spices, rye, roast, espresso and a touch of dark malt bitterness. Excellent. auerbrau (3203) - Ithaca, New York, USA - AUG 19, 2009
22oz Bottle. Pours a caramel-brown, with a red fringe and a nice tall creamy cocoa-powder-tinted head. Aroma gives a generous caramel and browned toast. A bit of milk sugar. Nice, brown-ale-like and decent. Flavor is snappy. A bright crisp rye punch. Chewy. Nice lager crispness. Cool and very smooth. An interesting lager, blending the sharper rye flavors, with a prickle of hops and the nice, well-malted caramel profile. Unique and enjoyable. Thanks Sean! This poured a dark brown color with a beige head. The aroma contains some rye along with some chocolate and marshmellows. The flavor contains rye, chocolate, caramel, and oddly more marshmellows. The finish is a mixture of sourness but more sweet than anything. Overall an different and pretty good beer. lithy (2996) - Capital of Appalachia, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 17, 2008
decaturstevo’s 2008 Zapit Tasing Tasting. Sample from a bottle thanks to Butters/SpringsLicker. Dark black with lots of red hints, thin tan head. Burnt roasty malt aroma, some rye breadiness and peppery spice. Taste is rye bread, more strong spiciness and burnt/roasted dry rye malt. ucusty (2691) - raleigh, North Carolina, USA - NOV 20, 2008
Bottle from Sams in D-town. Brown pour with a fizzy brown head. Earthy & roast aroma. Medium bodied. Roast, spice, and chocolate balls. Slightly metallic on the finish I was expecting a stronger offering, considering its price tag.... lb4lb (2587) - Austin, Texas, USA - NOV 29, 2008
Bottle in trade from MSchae1017. Thanks man! Pours a dark brown color with a light beige head. Smell is lightly nutty, rye bread and coffee. Taste is dark, roasty rye, zesty and hoppy with a light coffee touch and perhaps the faintest touch of lager yeast. Rich, lightly syrupy body and refreshing carbonation. Perfect mouthfeel and lasting hoppiness and bitterness make this a really under rated beer in my book. Beerona97 (2399) - Washington, USA - JAN 22, 2010
Dark brown with copper edges, frothy light tan head. Aroma of chocolate milk, slight hop and caramel. Taste is bitter earth and coffee/dark chocolate. Good balance of thick malt.
