COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This English style of beer, also known as Sweet Stout or Cream Stout, first appeared in London in the late 1800’s. The early brewers touted the health benefits of the milk sugar in this beer which today relates mainly to the increased amount of calories(no real health benefits…sorry). The milk sugar adds a well rounded sweetness to this dark beer and makes it an outstanding, year ‘round stout.

Part of variety pack. Good for this kind of stout as a part of a reasonably priced pack. Sweet with roasted malt and chocolate, sweet but with some dryness at the end that makes yo want another taste.

On the sweet side, which reflects the style. Good toasted malt color and taste. Modest aroma. Dark brown color.

UPDATED: OCT 17, 2010 Tap @ Taphouse Grill and bomber. Clear red-black with thin tan head, nice cascade after pour, fine lace. Trace of a sour milk nose, which moves rapidly into a tasty, sweet, chocolate milk start and middle. Medium body and lightcarbonation. Excellent malty body for a stout, one of the best milk stouts I’ve had in ages, second only to Mackeson’s milk stout as brewed in the Caribbean. Great to see a solid entry in this small category. Sadly, the bomber was kept at room temp by the seller and possibly suffered for it, much better on tap!

Pours black with thin tan head, roasty and caramel aroma. Creamy palate, sweet with mild bitterness as balance. A nice comfortable drinking beer. On tap at Dive 96, NYC

Pours black with tan head. Roasted malt and chocolate aromas. Sweetness from the milk sugars, roasted malts and chocolate flavors. Slightly dry and bitter finiish. Medium to full body with mild carbonation and a nice creamy mouthfeel.

Black colour and a smal light brown foam. Smells of dark chocolate, tobacco, smoke and a burned smell I can’t describe. Tastes of dark bitter chocolate and left a smoked/burned aftertaste in my mouth. A lean but dry beer and I really liked it.

Dark pour with a little bit of off white head. Basically a classic stout flavor with an added sweetness. Delicious.

Bottle @ Goodbar Beer Club. Very dark brown, tan head. nose is soft toffee, rich malt. Flavor is toffee, caramel, really nice long bittersweet roasty cocoa finish.

Dark pour, decent head, very sweet. Better mouthfeel than many of its brethren. For fans of the genre, an excellent beer.

UPDATED: APR 9, 2013 Bottle. Black with off white head. Distinct sweet smell followed by the same taste. Good beer. The nitro bottle version of this beer is fantastic, amazing body, creamy dark and strong.
