COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This English style of beer, also known as Sweet Stout or Cream Stout, first appeared in London in the late 1800s. The early brewers touted the health benefits of the milk sugar in this beer which today relates mainly to the increased amount of calories(no real health benefitssorry). The milk sugar adds a well rounded sweetness to this dark beer and makes it an outstanding, year round stout.

On tap. Pours a very dark brown, almost black, with a lasting brown head. Sweet coffee aroma, toffee, chocolate. Roasted, malty body, semi-sweet chocolate, and a tiny hint of lactic sourness. Good dessert beer.

On tap at Chumleys Poured a brown/black with creamy tan head. The aroma is decent, with notes of coffee, milk, and perhaps some bitter chocolate. The flavor is pretty good, sweet malts, chocolate, a bit of coffee, and lactose come through. The mouthfeel is good, sticky, creamy, milky. Overall, its pretty good, but I tired of it more quickly than Id prefer.

Now this is what I had expected out of Bells DCS, a very creamy and tasty stout indeed. Coffee and cream dominate the nose and mouth, and very thick feeling in the mouth. Up there with Moloko plus.

Very deep brown, just barely translucent beer with a very thin head that dissipated within several seconds. The first thing I noticed was the aroma. A deeply roasted aroma that smelled strongly of coffee and perhaps dark chocolate. The beer filled my mouth in the best possible way, and wasnt unpleasantly bitter.

Black pour with brownish head. Aroma of coffee and hint of chocolate. Surprised by the flavor which was dominated by chocolate, and strong, not typical of a milk stout. Smooth finish, perfect beer with dessert.

Mini growler from Half-Time. Pours a deep brown to black with hints of crimson at the edges. Hefty tan head which drops to half volume fairly quickly. Piles of roasty malt with a hint of smoke and coffee. Mouthfeel is medium and a bit sweet. Finishes with a bit of roast, though a little more subtle than Id like.
