Dark dark brown with a coffee colored head. Has a sweet chocolaty aroma. Very sweet and smooth. Coffee and chocolate predominate the taste with a slight molasses note. Very glad to see this one in NE finally.
VERY smooth and chocolate tasting. Great easy drinking. Very very smooth and not too heavy

What's not to like here?: 1) visually stunning-- especially with the Nitro pour; 2) superb rich and full nose gets you excited for the first taste; 3) creamy, mocha, amazingly smooth deliciousness, with just a touch of sweetness; 4) 6% keeps it smooth and drinkable (I've never been able to discern any alcohol in this beer)...but gives it an extra kick over other non Imperial stouts; 5) almost a session beer!; 6) The Nitro version is the American craft-brew answer to Guinness, but far surpasses the Irish legend in taste and freshness. 7) A superb drinker for this time of year. gbackes (1) - - NOV 8, 2017 does not count
UPDATED: NOV 8, 2017 Very smooth and flavorful. Goes down easy and great with a burger or steak. Cool_Bond (2800) - KUNG_AV_OL @ Instagram, SWEDEN - NOV 7, 2017
Scent of chocolate. The taste is chocolate and a little sweetheart. Okay bitterness that fills the upper part of the mouth to a weak moment. Okay beer. Follow me @ Kung av öl @ Facebook for more pictures and ratings. MrTipple (6471) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - NOV 5, 2017
Dark chocolate, cacao, dark roast coffee, dark roast malts. Hazy, very dark brown, tiny, creamy, beige head. Light bitter. More bitter chocolate, dark roast malts, cacao, soft carbonation, medium bodied. Nice. Keg at GABF17, Denver.

This pours from 12oz bottle a very dark brown with a large billowy tannish head of foam. That soon breaks down to a few islands in the middle and it has some lacing.
The smell has some chocolate notes but it mostly smells like a lager.
The taste on first sips has some chocolate and roasted malt flavour with a bit of hop bitterness and fruitiness in the background.
Further sips in and the flavours I mentioned seem to subside and the brew becomes kind of watery though the finish is on the bitter side.
The mouthfeel is pretty thin on this one and the carbonation is low.
Bottom line: This is just an average example of the style and though I'm glad I tried it, I wouldn't bother seeking it out again.

.Appearance: Pitch black motor oil, lingering creamy brown head.
.Aroma: Roasted malt, slight notes of chocolate, oats, and dark fruit.
.Taste: Upfront roasted malt, and some sweetness, followed by a very slight bitterness.
.Mouthfeel: Velvety, smooth, medium body. Very minimal carbonation.
.A beauty in the glass, but not much of an aroma. Just a simple malt scent. Taste is very good, not overly complex. Mouthfeel - creamy and smooth - a bit on the light side of medium in terms of body. Overall a very enjoyable beer. B donandres (677) - Makati, PHILIPPINES - OCT 14, 2017

Definitely overrated for me. Tastes pretty much like guinness, which i don’t necessarily dislike. I guess i was just expecting more. It’s smooth, but certainly lacks creaminess or anything spectacular. It’s an easy drinking beer, but for the money i wouldn’t buy it again Hopper8 (241) - Holland, Michigan, USA - OCT 11, 2017
(Nitro Version) It's got a nice roasty aroma, and it has got a beautiful appearance. But it's a bit lacking in flavors, simple, but a decent enough mouthfeel. I'll drink this occasionally, but I'm more excited about other beers.
