COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This English style of beer, also known as Sweet Stout or Cream Stout, first appeared in London in the late 1800’s. The early brewers touted the health benefits of the milk sugar in this beer which today relates mainly to the increased amount of calories(no real health benefits…sorry). The milk sugar adds a well rounded sweetness to this dark beer and makes it an outstanding, year ‘round stout.

Enjoyed on tap in a shaker glass. The beer pours an opaque black color, with a dense light to medium tan head. The nose shows notes of dark chocolate and caramel. The palate shows a touch of roasted character initially, before revealing a pleasant amalgam of caramel, toffee, residual lactose-based sweetness, and a balancing bitterness. Carbonation is relatively low and the mouthfeel full, allowing the beer to be substantial, and yet remain eminently drinkable. The finish is long and quite sweet. Overall, a very enjoyable experience, and a very nice example of an all-too-rare style.

Scent of chocolate. The taste is chocolate and a little sweetheart. Okay bitterness that fills the upper part of the mouth to a weak moment. Okay beer. Follow me @ Kung av öl @ Facebook for more pictures and ratings.

Dark chocolate, cacao, dark roast coffee, dark roast malts. Hazy, very dark brown, tiny, creamy, beige head. Light bitter. More bitter chocolate, dark roast malts, cacao, soft carbonation, medium bodied. Nice. Keg at GABF17, Denver.

Bill Becker (1806) - Casper, Wyoming, USA - OCT 24, 2017
From May 2007 This pours from 12oz bottle a very dark brown with a large billowy tannish head of foam. That soon breaks down to a few islands in the middle and it has some lacing. The smell has some chocolate notes but it mostly smells like a lager. The taste on first sips has some chocolate and roasted malt flavour with a bit of hop bitterness and fruitiness in the background. Further sips in and the flavours I mentioned seem to subside and the brew becomes kind of watery though the finish is on the bitter side. The mouthfeel is pretty thin on this one and the carbonation is low. Bottom line: This is just an average example of the style and though I'm glad I tried it, I wouldn't bother seeking it out again.

Very minimal carbonation. .Overall: B .A beauty in the glass, but not much of an aroma. Just a simple malt scent. Taste is very good, not overly complex. Definitely overrated for me. Tastes pretty much like guinness, which i don’t necessarily dislike. I guess i was just expecting more. It’s smooth, but certainly lacks creaminess or anything spectacular. It’s an easy drinking beer, but for the money i wouldn’t buy it again

(Nitro Version) It's got a nice roasty aroma, and it has got a beautiful appearance. But it's a bit lacking in flavors, simple, but a decent enough mouthfeel. I'll drink this occasionally, but I'm more excited about other beers.

#nitro version. This is an extraordinary milk stout with nearly no spice to its aroma but pours with a perfect head. On the palette is it very creamy and smooth and the taste is refined and very enjoyable. 12oz bottle poured into a stout glass and I will enjoy this on numerous occasions.

6/10/15 complex taste. more than mildly carbonated which you can really feel on your tongue. Medium body but the finish is Lightbodyed. It might be better closer to room temperature. Worth trying a six-pack. 4/29/16. An awesome and subtle brew. Comparing it to the Great Lakes blackout Imperial Stout and much prefer this one 5/11/16 nicely balanced. Carmel sweetness. Dark roasted coffee notes. But I can't agree with my previous assessment on carbonation. if anything this is a low carbonation beer. All in all: A good go to beer ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
