COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Sawtooth Ale is an English style Extra Special Bitter. It is an extremely well balanced beer, with significant hop character, medium body, and a maltiness which increases in evidence as the beer warms to its "proper" drinking temperature. . The water used is quite hard, bringing it to near Burton on Trent levels, keeping it true to the style. This gives it the appropriate character and improves the malt extract significantly.

(Bottle) Amber colour with frothy off-white head leaving lots of lacing. Fruity, slightly malty nose with dried fruit, apricots, toffee and a hint of smoke. Malty taste with dried fruit, apricots, caramel and toffee. Balanced notes of spicy hops in the finish, but not very bitter. Doesnt really rock my world, but a balanced and very drinkable brew.

Clear, dark golden-amber body with nice carbonation. Small, fluffy, off-white head that settles to a 1mm film. The aroma is very toasty and grainy, with roasted caramel malts in the background. The flavor shows biscuit, toffee, caramel malts, and a decent amount of floral hop bitterness. Theres also a faint spiciness in there, and some mild light fruit. The body is just on the light side of medium. Smooth and easy to drink. Decent brew, but I found it to be a little boring. Nothing special here.

Cold 12 oz bottle: Pours a clear medium to dark orange color with a small amount of alabaster bubbles around the edges. Aroma is of rich malts and honey, with notes of fruit. Taste is of right malts and subtle earthy hops with notes of honey and fruit. Light to medium bodied and smooth with ample carbonation. Ending is clean and lightly sweet.

Bottle. Pours nearly clear copper with a thin but lacy off-white head. Fruit and herbal hop aroma with nuts in there somewhere. Body tending to light, with active carbonation. Initial malty sweetness, then a nutty quality which seems to go watery/grainy just before the dry bitter finish.

OK, I was expecting some kinda APA or IPA when I read the label. Now I see its a bitter. Clean yeast beer aroma with a little hop fragrance in there. Looks like iced tea with a little haze, but it is more on the orange side than brown. Initial flavor does have some hops in there but it is well controlled an not overwhelming. I can taste a little hint of chocolate in there. Has decent carbonation that I welcome. Some hop bitterness does begin to build on the back of the throat throughout the session. Not as good as the notoriuos Wychwood Hobgoblin which I gave a 3 or Great Divide HotShot ESB but certainly better than Morland Old Speckled Hen. Slight medicinal lingering bitterness on the finish.

Hazy amber going toward orange. Tight honey yellow head. Aroma of an IPA. Head retained and laced all the way down. Bitter, with caramel malts. Low alcohol. This is the biggest tasting small beer Ive ever had. Flavorful character. Light a maibock with a lot of hops added. Slight conditioning sting; but not bloating. Thin mouthfeel. Leaves a resinous palate. Solid brew.

Bottled. Copper colour, big frothy head. Tea-like hops in aroma. Rounded mouthfeel, with wood, teabags and bit dry with a touch of toffee lurking. Flavouring hops were added generously. Very American.

Pours a hazy orange colour with a small fizzy off white head. Aroma of sweet malts and grapefruit hops. Initial taste is citrus hops with a very thin body. Slight hops and malts on the palate that is weak. Some head retention.
