COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Sawtooth Ale is an English style Extra Special Bitter. It is an extremely well balanced beer, with significant hop character, medium body, and a maltiness which increases in evidence as the beer warms to its "proper" drinking temperature. . The water used is quite hard, bringing it to near Burton on Trent levels, keeping it true to the style. This gives it the appropriate character and improves the malt extract significantly.

355ml bottle (Pikkulintu, Helsinki , American Week 2007). Usual US tasty sweet bitter smell - cascade meets candifloss. Taste has a harsh quality, almost metallic that spoils the rich bitterness. Not worthy of the "ESB" moniker. Do I taste saccharin? Some strawberry sweetness - and thats not a positive thing in this context.

not a great beer. Decent at best. ESBs are not my favorite so I cant really make a good comment. Possibly I should try this at its proper drinking temp.

Overall a light good beer. I enjoyed it. The smell was fairly faint to me and the head disapeered rather quickly. Also the taste was nice for as long as it lasted which wasnt very long. Although the back of your mouth still gets some of a fainter taste to it. Has a minor bite with a bitter taste to it. Id definetly drink this beer again.

Bottle. Pours a lighter amber with s good head and decent lacing. Nose is lightly hopped with some malts. Beer was flat with no flavor hills and valley, no journey for the taste buds. One level of slight bitterness throughout. Sort of non-descript in an unoffensive way. Nothing special, a very average brew. Thanks to ogglethorp for this bottle.
