COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Sawtooth Ale is an English style Extra Special Bitter. It is an extremely well balanced beer, with significant hop character, medium body, and a maltiness which increases in evidence as the beer warms to its "proper" drinking temperature. . The water used is quite hard, bringing it to near Burton on Trent levels, keeping it true to the style. This gives it the appropriate character and improves the malt extract significantly.

UPDATED: NOV 19, 2005 Light carbonation, thin head and mild lacing. Not a very polychromatic beer; boring amber color throughout. The nose has a caramel corn/mixed nut holiday pack aroma with some toffee. The flavor is a bit bland with mild sweetness and earthy malt and fruity hops. Finishes medium bodied, a bit watery with nothing in the tail that really makes this memorable.

Bottle: Courtesy of robertsreality via trade. Aroma has notes of cookie dough, caramel, and the slightest hints of citrus. Pours a transparent reddish-orange with a small off-white ring for a head. Very matly up front. Lots of caramel and cookie dough. Finishes with some light flowery bitterness.

Copper Coloring with White Ring. Light Hoppy Aroma. Easy Going Malty Taste and Equally Subtle Hops. Dry Finish.

A pretty nice little ale. Not quite to an ESB level, but very drinkable with mild hops.

Pours a semi-hazy red from the bottle, head is bubbly white and slowly dissipates. Deep caramel malt aroma. Light tastes of the same, some a little-too-sweet caramel. Not half bad though.

(12 oz bottle: Hi-Time Wine Cellars in Costa Mesa, CA) A tall, off-white head builds atop the bright amber and hazy body, and is showing excellent retention. The nose is fruity and lightly hoppy, and shows a hint of sourness, but isnt especially aromatic. The flavor is also pretty light and easy, not aggressive in any area, showing nice balance between mildly sweet pale malts, fruit, and mildly bitter hops. Light-medium bodied, gently carbonated, and smooth and soft on the palate. And even now that Ive downed most of this beer, a thin head is still providing a full cover and lots of delicate lace is decorating the glass. Nothing to rave about, its just a simple, easy drinking brew.

Fairly tasty- had at Fosters for lunch. I was drinking a pumpkin ale so mine tasted better compared to this, but nice aroma and appearance. On the malty rich side.

[At Stockholm Beer Festival 2005] A hazy amber beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is simply sweet malty, while the flavor is sweet with notes of caramel and toffee, with a grassy dry finish. OK flavor.

Bottled. Orange/copperish colour, small beige head. Weak fruit in aroma. Mild hops and fruit in flavour. Weak long hoppy aftertaste. Very mild beer in flavour overall.

Bottled
Copper brown, small off-white head. Some American hops in the nose with malty background, not very strong. Malty with light hoppyness. Quite balanced pale ale, but not very interesting.
