Sawtooth Ale is an English style Extra Special Bitter. It is an extremely well balanced beer, with significant hop character, medium body, and a maltiness which increases in evidence as the beer warms to its "proper" drinking temperature. . The water used is quite hard, bringing it to near Burton on Trent levels, keeping it true to the style. This gives it the appropriate character and improves the malt extract significantly.

From the bottles. Great ale or ESB as they say. Had some not so long ago. It was gone in no time and a trip to Longmont is top priority. Must be some biscuit malt in the mix somewhere. A long list of adjectives to describe how good it is and the answer is to have some more.

On tap at St. Augustines, pours a clear copper orange with a small white head. Aroma brings out bready malt, a touch of toasted caramel and light hop resins. Flavour is very restrained, with subtle notes of resinous hops and toasted malt. Solid balance, just missing oomph.

deze extra special bitter is wel voller van smaak dan de normale bitter , de middelmatige bitterheid haalt de zacht mout tonen wat op en geven lichte hints van caramel, biscuit en bloemige hop alle wel wat vaag

Nice clean bread and malt aroma with light sweet notes. Pours a pale clear reddish brown with a thin tan head of small bubbles. Tastes of mild hops and balanced bread malt notes. Nothing overpowering. Plenty of carbonation. Very drinkable.

Clear, deep gold pour with a frothy white head. The aroma is malty with some mild, spicy hop notes. It has a medium, crisp body with lively carbonation. The taste is mildly bitter with a smooth, balanced finish.

Pours a nice clear copper from a bottle, quickly dissipating slightly off-white head. Aroma of caramel and whole wheat cracker. Flavor is surprisingly hoppy given the aroma. A little watery. Okay beer.

Not a bad Bitter, had it on tape served a bit too cold, too much head and very little aroma. Im sure it would be much improved if it had been aged in wood cask and drawn with a hand pump instead of gassed, but sadly this is America but I can dream of a nice pint of Hook Norton while drinking this.
