Kinda odd for me to Rate an Imperial stout this time of year as I keep thinking of Winter goes with Imperial's. Ruby red against the light shown from the computer monitor screen. Aroma is quick to tell you that this is a BIG beer.Coffee, roasted malts, smell reminds me of Alesmith, but no there is little that can match up to that one. Rich Robust flavour the coffee, caribbean rum, chocolate, the heavy malts, has Czar written all over it. almost a hint of native Kentucky Mash Whiskey here.Bourbon Balls made with single barrel Whiskey here. Warming!, second bottle will make it until it is so cold your words freeze outside, overall a complex vinious Stout that will Improve, damn I knew I should have bought more bottles, Highly recommended ! dirtymike (2016) - Manchester, New Hampshire, USA - JUN 22, 2003
My first Left Hand offering...what a way to start.Chocolate, coffee, some burnt/roasted malt flavors contribute nicely.Hopped decently for the style, good body and great lingering finish. loweredsixth (946) - Clovis, California, USA - JUN 19, 2003
Pours a dark ruby brown color with a medium tan head...very creamy. The aroma was strong of cocoa and alcohol...roasted chocolate and a slight fruitiness. The flavor was much of the same...strong alcoholc aftertaste. Nice crisp carbonation...probably too much for this style, but it is welcome here in the summer heat...very refreshing. iwantalambic (1478) - St. Louis, Missouri, USA - JUN 14, 2003
Black, a hint of ruby, thin white head in a ring around the glass. . . Large roasted aroma with raisins, alcohol, and red grapes. Failry sweet flavour with raisings, alcohol, some hops and syrup. A nice bitter hop finish, solid. DragonStout (1418) - Groveport, Ohio, USA - JUN 11, 2003

deep brown-red body with out lacing. sharp malt nose. sweet and sour taste with lots of malt and tones of apple. full flavor.
UPDATED: JUL 29, 2003 Dark color, small head. Chocolate and coffee type flavors dominate this beer. Aroma of chocolate. On the finish I could pick some of the burnt flavors. Nice Imperial. Gunshy (479) - Ohio, USA - MAY 18, 2003
This beer poured a dark ruby red color and formed a light tan foamy head that left circular lace as it subsided. Some carbonation was present. An aroma of malt, coffee and chocolate. A flavor of malt, coffee and chocolate. A bit of burnt chocolate is present in the finish with warm aspect of the alcohol present. A bit lighter than other imperials, but a good stout, nonetheless.

Poured a jet black with a brown head that quickly diminshes. Some lacing.Frank (4267) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - APR 27, 2003
Lots of roastiness in the aroma. Slight alcohol note in the aroma too.
Big, deep first drink of roasted malt and coffee. Alcohol and hops are also very detectable. Slight chocolate finish.
Smooth and drinkable for a big beer. Should age well.
Black. Shows just a hint of brown when held to a bright light. Thin head with tiny, off-white spots of lacing. Simple but wonderful nose. Loaded with roasted coffee and just a whisper of vanilla. A sharp bite up front. Intensely bitter coffee flavor becomes more and more pronounced as the beer progresses. A hint of dark chocolate. Tons of dark malts and generous hops in the finish. Mouthfeel is creamy but a touch on the thin side. Low carbonation. No alcohol from the first sniff to the finish but you can definitely feel the burn in the stomach. Could be a bit more complex but Left Hand's Imperial is a beer to be reckoned with.
