Here’s a black ale to brighten your day. Wake Up Dead lurks in our cellars for over 4 months before being unleashed. Hints of raisins, black licorice, coffee and dark chocolate are followed by earthy, herbal hop notes. Any apprehensions about the rest of your day are quickly forgotten, for whatever the mind expects, it finds. Sometimes you’re not in the mood for what everyone else is having.

Pours dark, looks a little thin for an imperial stout. Not crazy about the flavor, alcohol comes through way too much for me, flavor is just not good. Good brewery, but something went wrong with this one, not enjoyable.

UPDATED: JAN 11, 2018 12oz bottle; pours smooth with a light smooth lace and creamy head, on the nose; notes of chocolate roasted barley with a creamy coffee linger. First impression; insanely drinkable, smooth full body with good light coffee and roasted barley over the tongue. A sweet stoutly body and creamy smooth finish, lightly hopped. Phanomenal.

Poured into pint glass had a nice creamy head. Aroma is yeasty and malty reminds you of sweet bread. Taste is full flavor roasted barley that has a pleasing finish that stays with you. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Aus der Flasche (Vintage 2016) im 2017-12 getrunken. Wieder so ein Stout von Left Hand mit sehr kräftigen Röstaromen mit Mokka- und Kakaoaromen. Sehr gelungende Aromamischung. Lecker!

I love this beer. I just had it for the first time a couple of weeks ago. I couldn't help myself, I drank 3 of the four bottles. I'm way too old for that. Lots of nice sweet malt. Can't really taste the hops. Even at 10% ABV the alcohol is not obvious. This is going on my must drink list.

UPDATED: DEC 21, 2017 Aroma of coffee, chocolate, cream and notes of roasted malt. Taste: thick creamy flavour of coffee, chocolate, roasted malt. Mixed with citrus and earthy notes. Bittersweet aftertaste

Brawo RISowe WOW.

0,355 l bottle (NITRO Version) from Biervana Munich Aroma: some caramel, dark chocolate, coffee, roasty, hints of vanilla. black, hazy, frothy / creamy brown foam head. medium bitterness, full body, creamy, thick feel, soft carbonation, long finish,

Aroma not bad, light coffee, more chocolate, some nice vanilla but dominating alcohol. Taste vanilla chocolate, faint coffee, too sweet for my taste, creamy MF, somewhat grainy. Not bad, it has a full body but rather average tasting for an impy, too sweet.

12 oz bottle. Chocolate vanilla and coffee smells. Pours a dark red brown with a dense thick tan head. Nice big smooth flavors of coffee and sweet chocolate balanced with a sour bite. No alcohol overtones. Oily mouthfeel. A very nice stout.

Going on record here as saying I'm not a fan of nitro imperial stouts. The tinier bubbles and finer, smoother texture accentuates the elements I generally dislike about RISs, making them overly sweet and highlighting the elevated ABV. Wake Up Dead Nitro is no different; the slick carbonation brings out much sweeter chocolate and dark fruit notes, while making sure you feel every last digit of the 10.2%. Some notes of anise and roasted malt creep around the periphery, but mostly this pint's about syrupy chocolate and a liqueur finish, neither of which I want in my beer. Good aroma, though, mocha and a hint of liquor heat. Looks nice as well--most nitro stouts do--with a unyielding cap of beige foam and sticky lacing. But the texture's too thin for such a big beer, and the sweetness kills it. Would love to try the original bottled version.
