3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Light amber with medium lasting head. Quite smooth easy drinking and warming. Would probably make a great intro to the style.
Tried this before it was retired in 2010. Brown and very sweet. Thickly spicy. Hop bitterness doesn’t even this out sadly. TEJA (3256) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - JUL 1, 2016
Hard to open, neaded a polygrip tool to get open. Sampled 201660701. Big and lasting off white head.Opaque red-orange color. Orange and woody aromas in a nice balance. Sweet caramell and oranfe fruit taste. Small sweetness and a firm body. distinct but balanced bitterness. jandd1983 (4577) - Wentzville, Missouri, USA - OCT 12, 2015
Bottle. It poured an amber color with a white head. The aroma was of caramel, honey, and light floral esters. The taste was similar to the aroma with more caramel, honey, toffee and some floral hops. Tasty. Iphonephan (7264) - Jackson Hole/McLean, Virginia, USA - FEB 21, 2015

Hazy cider orange brown pour, white head. Aroma is fruit, alcohol, and notes of... soy sauce? Flavor is Orange, dried fruits, toffee. Slightly smoky and dry. bbbeer (878) - Massachusetts, USA - OCT 10, 2014
Slightly cloudy orangy color with medium off white head. Aroma mostly citrus hops with some malt. Full body. Not too much alcohol. Flavor is mostly hoppy with pine and citrus. Some malt sweetness. Balance is reasonable. More IPA-like than barleywine. slowrunner77 (12804) - Reno, Nevada, USA - OCT 6, 2014
"a barleywine with peat malt and candi sugar...different. has a lot of what you’d expect from a good BW (caramel sweetness, good dose of bittering hops) but the subtle smoke in the aroma and flavor/finish is different. great full mouthfeel. smooth, and tasty. a little overpriced, only because there are others for less that are as good but it’s unique and good enough to be a real treat if you haven’t had it."

Bottle from Total Wine in Boca Raton. Poured into a snifter at home. Pours an orange brown with a medium thick head. Head gone in 30 seconds. No real lacing. Aroma of dark fruits, barrel, heavy carmelized malts, and mild peat. The taste is malty, caramel, oak barrel, and fresh earthy hops. There was a weird medicinal taste however that was a big turnoff. I found it to be a very hoppy barleywine. I tend to like them more malty. Medium body, bitter mouth with the hops. AirForceHops (7796) - Epping, New Hampshire, USA - SEP 6, 2014
Draft @ Sunset. The bartender couldn’t tell me if it was an aged keg. And it doesn’t taste of me it so.... They must have started brewing this again. Anyhow, ruby color with lasting tan head. Aroma is sweet malt, leather and English roasted malts. Flavor is English malt forward. Shoe leather, English toffee, light caramel and mild spice. 8% is covered up with a sweet finish. Overall super easy to drink and not syurpy or over sweet at all.
