22oz bottle. Pours a reddish brown with a tan head. Had I not read the label never would have guessed this was a porter. Very thin (a recurring theme with Lefty’s). Notes of chocolate, coffee and smoke though the smoke was very subtle and easily missed if you are not looking for it. Overall a bit dissapointing. Wow...must be an infected batch. Bottle from trade...slight lactic nose mixed with slight smokiness. Light body with med to high carbonation. Sour with sweet finish. Didn’t know a smoked porter should be sour. Worst smoked porter I have ever had. anders37 (27062) - Malmö, SWEDEN - DEC 15, 2012
Bottle @ Chriso. Pours a dark amber brown color with a small off-white head. Has a roasted malty smoky caramel and chocolate aroma. Roasted malty chocolate and caramel flavor with smoky hints. Has a roasted malty chocolate smoky finish. Theydon_Bois (20646) - Hazlemere, the lower Xhitlerns, Buckinghamshire, ENGLAND - DEC 4, 2012
Bottle at Chriso tasting, thanks Chris, 18/11/12.
Mahogony brown with a thin tan head that clears to the edge.
Nose is smoked gammon, toffee fudge, malts, more smoke.
Taste follows nose, touch of liqourice and chocolate in the background and some roast malts but fairly smokin’ all over!
Medium bodied with soft carbonation leading to a smoked finihsh.
Not bad. Leighton (22329) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - NOV 22, 2012
Bottle at Chriso Tasting, London - thanks to Chris. Pours clearish brown with a beige foam head. Earthy smoked malt nose with light meat and burnt caramel. Medium sweet flavor with brown bread, light smoke and ham, faint earthy bitterness, some toasted sugars. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation. Sweet and bready to finish with further notes of ham and toasted sugar. A very mellow smoke character to this beer makes it quite approachable - although I’d like it a bit smokier, myself. Nice overall.
