4.8 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Having had the St. George IPA on the cask, it was time to try the Legend offering. Per the (massive) beer menu, it's "dark golden in color and dry hopped to perfection."
It arrived in a 20oz. English Imperial Pint glass with an amazingly thick and creamy white head that really reminded me of a nitr-tap brew. Distinct and impressive rings of lace on the glass as this one was drained. Color was indeed dark golden. Aromas were very different from what I'd expected. I was thinking I'd be able to pick up something resembling a hoppy note but all I got was a very pronounced "applesauce" aroma. I'd be curious to see what hops they used in dry-hopping this. Flavor, too, was not very influenced by the hops, IMHO. Pretty mild, and toned down by the conditioning in the cask. Quite malty-caramel sweet up front, tempered nicely by the hops. Finishes with a sweet, tangy aftertaste. Mouthfeel is nice...creamy smoothness coates the palate. I really like cask-conditioned beers and this one was easy to drink. One that I would certainly order again.

UPDATED: SEP 12, 2017 Draft. It poured a cola brown color with a thin beige head. It had a nutty aroma and sweet taste. A very nice brown ale. mgottlob (1) - - MAY 29, 2017 does not count
Our go to beer. Legend has been in Richmond for a long time before Richmond expanded to 17 area breweries and brew pubs. Local beer. Malts not hops

Currently my 6th favorite beer is this English Brown Ale brewed in Richmond, VA. I’ve only had it in a bottle, so I look forward to trying it on Draft;) stevoj (5427) - Boise, Idaho, USA - JUN 27, 2016
Draft at Yard House-Springfield. Normal looking pour, faint aroma, then goes horribly wrong in the taste. Metallic bitterness, cola sweetness. Not sure what this is supposed to be, but not very good. No drains nearby.... Carlisle (786) - Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 25, 2016
Draft. Pours brown color. Little noticeable aroma. Some subtle malt flavor. Thin mouthfeel.

Pours dark brown, with a tan head. Aroma of malts and brown sugar. Taste is smooth, sweet, and very drinkable. A nice brown ale to quaff! Thumbs up for sure! Thanks Andy! Bacchus66 (877) - South Carolina, USA - AUG 2, 2015
Pours clear brown with a quickly-dissipating off-white head. Looks nice enough, though the aromas and flavors are best described as light - light caramel and nutty aromas, similar light flavors with a touch of sweetness. Hints of hops on the finish. Very drinkable, balanced style. rondphoto (4489) - Lakeside Park, Kentucky, USA - AUG 2, 2015
bottle @ Beer Run / Charlottesville VA --- Clear dark brown color, smooth 1" beige head, streaks of lace. Taste is nutty malt that adds light carbonation and hops on the swallow. Very simple, not as sweet as one might expect. but not hoppy, either. Meh. Bkcaldwell (42) - - JUN 29, 2015
Good brown ale that converted my son who is not usually a fan. Tasty with nice aftertaste. Looks good and tastes good. Mellow beer that goes well with a meal. Recommend for cooler days and nights. OldGrowth (3474) - the Containment Area, North Carolina, USA - JUN 6, 2015
