UPDATED: MAR 13, 2010 *re-rate* 16th anniversary edition @ 7%abv. pours a reddish gold with a thick, soapy off-white head and sticky lacing. aroma is much more pronounced than years past with sweet, dank hops, orange, pink grapefruit, and sweet nectarine fruit notes with a hint of spice and sweet, caramel malts. flavor is delicious and very fruit forward with orange, peach, and sweet grapefruit notes with a touch of berry backed by sweet floral esters and nutty, bready, caramel malts. palate is medium bodied and nicely carbonated with a long, bitter finish. overall, a damn nice IPA that’s improved over the years. carl4beer (522) - Fairfax Station, Virginia, USA - FEB 7, 2008
22oz. pours clear orangish amber with big fluffy head. big citrus hops... tangerine, grapefruit. mouthful is zesty with hop the citrus hops dominating. this is not bad, but seems to be lacking a malt backbone... decaturstevo (6244) - decatur, Tennessee, USA - FEB 5, 2008
Thanks to the Ga Crew for this beer. Deep orang amber pour with foamy tan head. Nice sweetish evergreen aroma. Nice malt with an excellent finishing bitter. Much more hop flavor than aroma. Carbonation is good mouthfeel is just a bit thin. Solid all round beer that edges on damn good. TURDFERGUSON (4058) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - FEB 3, 2008
Bottle shared by cdog69 at the pre-sex gathering. Thanks! Pours an orange amber with a light white head. Nose is lightly hoppy. Flavor is similar to aroma and is fairly one-dimensional with little-to-no malt backbone. luv2brew (196) - Chesterfield, Virginia, USA - FEB 1, 2008
Pours dark gold with a massive white soft head. The aroma smells of some extremely high aciidic hops. The medium to high maltiness balances everything out wonderfully. This has hit the nail on the head. It is as close to perfectly balanced as you can get. There is not a large bite of bitterness at the end because I believe it ’s all in the nose. There is nuttiness as well as a small bit of chewiness that comes along with the body of this one. This is a solid brew no doubt.

7-21-06. Dark amber, film for head. Decent zesty citrus character up front, almost no malt to speak of. Flavor nice combo of pine resin and citrus, but dusty, again no backbone. Sort of flat, oxidation is starting to set in. EKGoldings (664) - Radford, Virginia, USA - NOV 27, 2007
Yeah, I get too much diacetyl in this one too. Really detracts at this level from what could be a quite tasty beer. CaptainCougar (7133) - Columbia, Maryland, USA - JUN 17, 2007
Pours a transparent dark copper bronze with a frothy, well-lacing off-white head. Nice aroma of fresh piny hops and toasty dark caramel malt. Body starts slightly oily and mildly sweet with some earthy flavor hops and mild butterscotch diacetyl. Has some lightly toasty sugary notes and a touch of tartness. If they’d use a diacetyl rest, this could be a very nice beer. ryan (3186) - Beltsville, Maryland, USA - MAY 24, 2007
Clear dark reddish body with small off-white head. The aroma is herbal, citrus, caramel, catty. The flavor is some tea, herbal, grass and orange. Medium body with soft carbonation and slightly thin in the mouth. jcwattsrugger (12420) - Florida and, New Jersey, USA - MAY 11, 2007
on tap-pours a foamy light tan head and amber color. Aroma is citrus hops, sweet. Taste is citrus hops, sweet, faint medium malt. Good, but taste not quite up to aroma. OK carbonation/effervescence.
