Named after the small fishing village at Cape Rodney and the home of the Sawmill brewing company, this beer is based on an India Pale Ale (IPA) style. It has to be brewed to reflect traditional London Ale. Mid-amber in colour with tones of caramel and a slight hint of chocolate, this ale has a round mouth feel, with slight bitterness followed by a finish of good hop notes. This is an ideal session beer that can be enjoyed with many foods, but especially suited to pizza, breads, cheeses and snakes. 4.3-4.5%abv

A great session pale ale. Typical kiwi aroma, but not too overpowering. Matched to a slightly malty body and moderate bitterness. Very good

Pale copper to look at, pretty flat beer not much head , smell is a little bit citrus little bit hoppy, taste is really good nice bitterness but soft and has plenty IPA flavour, nicely balanced beer and feels more powerful than its low abv, so yes a good session beer but at $9 a bottle 500ml nobody can afford this to be a session beer.

Pouring from the can produces very little in the way of head. Amber gold in color. Clean hop aroma. Mild citrus and pineapple with a hint of caramel. Biscuity flavour with some off-flavour component that I cant quite identify (oxidation?). Fairly bitter with a mild chocolate note. Medium body and some astringency. Aroma is nice, but the beer doesnt follow through on the initial pleasant-ness.

Hazy orange with white head and a clean and light aroma of malt and orange. Taste is orange, honeyed water and a bit of malt. Light dry bitterness at the end. Good on a hot day like today.

An orange coloured beer with a puffy cream coloured head that sank into the body of the beer but left good lace. The aroma was of candied orange peel, nectarine and some spruce. This carried into the flavour along with a gentle bitterness that would have been riotously bitter ten years ago. Tasty session beer.

Tap at Tiny Triumphs Auckland. Dark gold colour with a firm white head, hoppy and malty aroma, taste is light and fruity with a dry hoppy finish.

Pretty ordinary beer but still better than most (mass produced). Best feature is the low alcohol content allows one to enjoy a few more than usual.

Definitely on the drinkable side with a bit of caramel malt, but is not a beer to really showcase pale ale.

500ml bottle, pours pale amber, slightly hazy, with thin white head. Not much on the nose, some doughy yeast aroma with citrus hops, tastes quite bitter, but a bit sweet, light body, with average carbonation, some citrus hop flavour, not overwhelming. Certainly not the best pale ale out there

Nice gold colour. Subdued hop aroma. Quite rich malt palate, citrus hop finish. Ok but not earth-shattering
