COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Traditional stone beer brewed with super-heated stones.

McGarnigle's rating

3.4
McGarnigle (650) - Rochester, New York, USA - APR 27, 2013
UPDATED: JUN 2, 2013 Flip top bottle. The oranger shade of amber. Pour leaves a great head but it doesn’t last. Kind of a sweet beer (caramel from the stones, although I don’t know if they really use stones). Bready malts and some fruit flavors which likely come from the yeast. Light on the hops, but the overall effect isn’t too rich.

3.2
cervmagpt (810) - PORTUGAL - MAY 3, 2017
Review based on personal perceptions. Bottle 50 cl - Batch unknown (BBF expired - 12.04.17). AROMA: medium-low cardboard aroma, followed by medium-low maillard malt notes. APPEARANCE: ambar color and clear. medium ivory head with good retention. TASTE: similar to aroma with slight oxidation notes (cardboard), and malt presence (caramelized). low bitterness with a semi-dry finish. PALATE: medium-low body with medium carbonation. OVERALL: a steinbier that shows oxidation notes but its still quite drinkable with malty presence and maillard notes.

Bottle. Amber colour, hazy, nice rocky head. Aroma is white bread, wheat, some dough, a bit of grassy hops. Light bitterness. Full body, smooth. Very good.

Bottle - Color is clear bronze, fluffy head. Taste is unusual, harsh and brisk. Kind of bitter toffee. Expected it to be far more sweet. Subtle hop aromas. Finishes medium bitter. Interesting.

A tasty lager, pours murky orange with frothy off white head. Herbal, malty nose. Taste is spicy caramel, herbal. Quaffable.

Shared with wim at my home. Slightly hazy amber colored beer with small white head and no carbonation. Herby hopped aroma. Full sparkling palate. Finish is sweet herby.

ciocanelu (2465) - Timisoara, ROMANIA - NOV 10, 2016
Hazy dark amber color with beige head. Aroma is really malty with intense burnt sugar notes and toasted bread. Taste follows with the burnt sugar and toasted grains. Not really sweet, just tastes like sugar but without the associated sweetness. Medium body and carbonation. Overall it’s a really balanced beer with nice caramelized sugar notes and a quite smooth mouthfeel.
