Goes down smooth, Sweet Chocolate / Carmel taste, Rich brown body with an amber colored head. No aftertaste which is kind of disappointing though, this is one of those beers you wish would linger. Overall one of my favorites. My only complaint is I canít find it outside of the flatlands. labattblueleaf (225) - Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA - JUN 20, 2002
Awesome! No one tried to be too cute or clever with this. Itís just a beer, with a fantastic flavor. I had it with a Tombstone pizza and was thoroughly impressed. Nothing about it really stands out except for my desire to drink it again. jew02 (16) - Peoria, Illinois, USA - MAY 3, 2004
The Midwestís Guinness. It has a very similar style to Leinies Creamy Dark too. Both beers are excellent ícheapí Guinnesses missouribill (12) - , Missouri, USA - JUN 9, 2008

Having sampled many microbrews from the pacific northwest, I needed a good brew that i could find locally. I was suprised by this gem. Very tasty. If you like a good bock, then you need to pick up this seasonal (curses) brew.

UPDATED: APR 14, 2004 The first doppelbock i have had and liked it. Has a nice dark color and wonderful after taste. Leave it to leinies to come up with another winner Falconseye8 (542) - Evans, Colorado, USA - JUN 17, 2004
Lifeís better with a Big Butt as Leinie says. Wasnít born with one but the Big Butt Dopplebock is a very good beer. Chocolately, roasty, hoppy. Nice gravity, mouthful feeling. Feels like youíre drinking something. Arguably could be currently Leinieís best Beer. I liked the Northwoods a little better myself. Big Butt had a smooth finish and tasted great from start to finish. I think some of you out there are getting bad bottles. At least thatís the excuse most people make when they get a bad Bellís beer. UPDATED: APR 14, 2004 Dark, smooth and tasty. This was one of the best beers I've ever had. I have never had a Leinenkugel beer that has been bad. This was absolutely delicious with a steak sandwich. skierguy99 (8) - Minnesota, USA - DEC 9, 2002 does not count

A very straightfoward simple pleasant tasting hearty beer. I enjoy leinies creamy dark, but this one seems to have more kick to it so I like it better. I agree w/ some folks here that its not quite like the real classy (and more expensive) dopplebocks, but Iím kind of glad of that cause Iím really looking for something a little less overwhelming. Its really pleasant and hearty without being too hopsy or bitter.
