Leinenkugel’s is pleased to bring back Leinenkugel’s Big Butt Doppelbock into its limited-release portfolio. The name "Big Butt" comes from the image of two goats butting heads that you see on the label. Bock means billy goat in German and Leinenkugel’s Big Butt Doppelbock’s name and label pokes fun at the goat’s springtime mating ritual. The result is a malty, rich, full-bodied bock beer brewed with two-and six-row pale and specialty malts and two specialty hops. Like all Leinie’s beers, Big Butt Doppelbock is handcrafted one batch at a time in our historic Chippewa Falls brewery.

A good beer that has a great taste. Do they use GMO ingredients?? It appears they do - bummer.

Nice site, thanks for allowing beer lovers to post simple reviews and not have to rate according to the 50 "accepted" measures of a review (based on all sorts of odd characteristics of the beer) as is done by some sites that claim to be your "advocate".

GregMooreNH (160) - Bedford, New Hampshire, USA - SEP 21, 2017
UPDATED: NOV 5, 2017 Pours golden with substantial head. Aroma is wheat and light hops. Taste is acrid, odd for a doppelbock, building to some sweetness. Aftertaste is metallic that lingers. Not a good choice as a representative of doppelbocks.

beer_rookie (681) - Arkansas, USA - JUL 22, 2016
Pours a dark reddish brown. Nice one and half finger khaki head. Pretty good retention, light lacing.

Aroma is medium/dark roasted malts. Has cherries, raisins and other fruits like that. Also a touch of cocoa and caramel.

Taste is almost exactly the same as the aroma. Nice dark roasted malt sweetness. Lots of dark fruits like cherries and raisins in the flavor. Good cocoa and caramel in there too.

Mouthfeel is medium body. It’s very smooth, no bitterness at all, no alcohol taste. Perhaps a touch sour on the swallow.

Overall, this is quite delicious. Wish it were higher ABV, but the flavor is very good. I would drink this again, and I also would recommend it. Yummy!

Bottle from Albertsons. Decent looking pour, dark, clear brown with a soft foamy beige head. Sweet, nutty aroma and taste, but kind of watered down. Finishes sweet, like a root beer barrel candy, and painfully dry.

Color is like a melted ice coke. Also the taste isnt too far from a sweet watery cola. Deserves better than the low overall rating. Leinies are fine brews, hate that the big name brings then down from the beer snobs. Not my favorite style but there is absolutely nothing wrong with this very drinkable treat. Perfect for a sampler.

Poured from 12 oz bottle into pilsner glass

Appearance: a 1" pillowy cream colored head falls quickly with a minute amount of lacing. Color is clear reddish-brown with moderate streaming bubbles.
Aroma: very malt forward -- barley sweetness and ripe fruit, with earthy hops.
Mouthfeel: light to medium bodied, prickly carbonation with a somewhat dry finish.
Flavor: rich roasted malt flavor, chocolate, caramel, dates, raisins, earthy and herbal hops.
Overall: pleasant and drinkable, maybe a tad too much carbonation.

Bottle from Kroger. Clear brown with amber highlights and a big resilient cream colored or beige head with light spotty lacing. Aroma of brown sugar, caramel, and bread. Taste is toasty and thin and lightly sweet. Slick, light-medium bodied, and a touch dry.

3.2
