2013 Artisans craft Beer Festival. Poured a deep brown color with a decent head that fades fairly quickly. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, dark fruit and nutty. Taste is similar with roasted malt, some caramel sweetness, chocolate, dark fruit and nutty. Nice bitterness and a dry finish. Fairly full body smooth with a creamy texture. the 8.5% ABV is well hidden. Enjoyable beer, nice take on the style. 5000 (6862) - Hardened Liver, Washington, USA - AUG 18, 2013
Bottle:   Deepest of browns, moderate foamy beige head, spotty lacing.   Sweet roasted malt nose, slight
soy, a bit of dark pitted fruit, prunes and raisins.   Slight lactose and chocolate notes as well.   Right up front
its a bit of a slight sour/tart dark pitted fruit.   Moderate sweetness, fig, dates, and prunes.   Towards the end
it has a fairly moderate roastiness and apple skin, almost like many imperial stouts.   I am surprised to see this one
rated so low.   While not world class, its pretty solid.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate to full.   Lingering
soy infused dark pitted fruits.   Perhaps not as big or rich as others, but thats okay.   Its fairly warm in
Seattle now, so this is an easy Baltic Porter on a hot day.   This one is fairly good. Ron (3962) - Rochester, New York, USA - AUG 17, 2013
Pours a deep fig brown with a small tan head. Aroma of metal, dark fruits, chocolate, and toasted nuts. Flavor of dates, chocolate, dry toast, and earth. Medium-bodied, with medium carbonation and a dry, earthy mouthfeel. Decent but I normally like this style better. Thanks for the trade JB. AR (1000) - Georgia, USA - AUG 14, 2013
Medium large, but short-lived brown head. The flavors, also, are good, but short-lived. They include a bread flavor, chocolate, and sugar cane. MarinEvelyn (854) - Wisconsin, USA - AUG 7, 2013
very malty, sweet rich fruit aroma. A little cocoa as well.
lighter taste than I expected, almost seems to have a wine aspect to it, though finishes more bitter and roasty. A little alcohol. Sweet and malty.

Dark brown with small wispy tan head and solid ring around glass. Aroma is fairly sweet, caramel, toffee, chocolate, brown sugar, dark fruit/raisiny. Flavor much the same but without as much substance. Medium body, soft, turns a little thin. Mild roastyness, some alcohol, fairly sweet with medium duration. Some sips I like better than others. superspak (5602) - Michigan, USA - JUL 29, 2013
12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, best before 9/5/2013. Pours crystal clear very dark reddish brown color with a 1-2 finger dense khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of caramel, toast, toffee, chocolate, brown bread, molasses, raisin, prune, nuttiness, light roast, and toasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance of dark malt notes with moderate fruitiness; and good strength. Taste of caramel, molasses, toast, toffee, chocolate, brown bread, raisin, prune, light roast, nuttiness, and toasted earthiness. No bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, molasses, toast, toffee, chocolate, brown bread, dark fruit, nuttiness, light roast, and toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice balance and complexity of dark/toasted malt flavors with moderate fruitiness; and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a creamy and slick mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with only a small warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a very nice Baltic porter. All around nice balance and complexity of dark/toasted malt flavors with moderate fruitiness; and very smooth to sip on. A very enjoyable offering. UPDATED: JUL 28, 2013 Pours a deep rich dark brown with a medium tan head that leaves quickly. Leaves a nice lacing. Has a fruity aroma with hints of chocolate. A medium, to full mouth feel with a flavor of chocolate, roasted and prunes. The sherry/wine taste is a bit overwhelming.

Bottle @ home, picked up at 287 Liquor Fort Collins. Pours a deep brown appearance with a dark brown head. Big sweet black licorice, brown sugar, dark fruit, chocolate, caramel, candy, a touch boozy, enticing aroma. Smells good. Quite rich, rich burnt sugar, caramelized sugar, spicy cinnamon, anise, light vanilla, a bit woody, potent chocolate flavor. Lots of raisin and dark fruit notes. It’s a big beer with big flavors. Maybe it just needed some time to mellow out. This is nice. Surprisingly pure deliciousness.
