On tap at Tapwerks. Pours dark brown with a tan head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has sweet dark grains with sweet chocolate and a hint of roasted malts. Flavor starts with sweet dark grains and chocolate and is joined by roasted malts in the finish. jkwalking05 (4743) - Arlington, Texas, USA - FEB 21, 2013
Dark brown with a decent beige head. Aroma is of molasses, prune, brown sugar, very sweet. Taste is cherry, berries, brown sugar, molasses, sweet. HighWine (959) - Whalezbro, Illinois, USA - FEB 17, 2013
2012 bottle to snifter. First observation is that this is a lot lighter than I was expecting. It’s brown with a garnet hue. Short lived head fades to a thin collar around the glass. Lightly carbonated with slow moving bubbles ascending to the top of the brew. Sugar cane and light molasses aroma. Quite sweet and nice. Taste starts off sweet like the aroma but then balances out with a touch if bitter roast and finishes with a sugared black coffee flavor. Somewhat slippery in the mouth. Not as dark or as much licorice flavor as I was expecting but I like the coffee roast sweetness. Tasty. djd07 (15282) - Houston, Texas, USA - FEB 14, 2013
Bottle. Pours a dark amber with a medium beige head leaving spotty lacing along the glass. The aroma is a bready malt and raisin. Thin mouthfeel with a sweet malt and chocolate with light dry finish. Easy to drink a good Baltic porter from Lienenkugels. Patrickctenchi (6664) - Cox’s Knob, columbus, Indiana, USA - FEB 14, 2013
Pours deep, dark, reddish-brown with a short and shiny, dark tan head.
Syrupy, prune aroma.
Taste is heavy, woody malt...dull chocolate...slightly roasty.
Smooth, dark bittering.
Not amazing, but pretty decent.

First Baltic Porter. Poured from bottle, a dark color, dark brown, almost black, with a very small off-white head. Aroma is of roasted malts, dark fruit, some vanilla (maybe). Taste is sweeter than I expected. I don’t have anything else to compare this to, but this wasn’t as good as I expected.

Bottle. Molasses, prune, chocolate, and slight anise aroma. Deep chestnut with a large tan head. Anise and molasses flavor. Reminds me a bit of the Risa Opal candies I ate as a kid in Iceland.... except without the menthol. I liked the candy, but I don’t think I like the flavor as a beer all that much. Medium body, soft carbonation. blackflag321 (691) - Lansing, Michigan, USA - FEB 5, 2013
Bottle pour to pint glass. Dark body with almost no head. Sweet taste; malty fruit (is there such a thing?); soft and smooth. okay, but only okay. jandd1983 (4444) - Wentzville, Missouri, USA - FEB 3, 2013
It poured a dark mohogany/red color with a light tan head. The aroma was of roasted malt and some licorice. The taste was sweet, roasted malt, with some dark fruit and slightly chalky. Average. dmschefke (575) - Macomb, Michigan, USA - JAN 29, 2013
Pours a cola colored brown with thin tan head, minimal lacing. Aroma is dominated by tawny port notes and less so by underlying chocolate and caramel. Flavor matches well, but just doesn’t sit well with me.
