COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Big Eddy Baltic Porter is a blanket of malt flavor. Notes of toffee, cocoa, caramel, toasted bread and sherry fruit flavors are interwoven to produce a symphony of splendor. Our Baltic Porter is an homage to the brewers of the Baltics and a tribute to our own historic brewing waters, the Big Eddy Spring.

On tap at Tyler’s Taproom in Raleigh, NC. Dark brown pour with an off-white head. Aroma of roasted malts and light coffee. Tastes of chocolate with a nutty finish. Thin with low heat for the style. Not terrible but disappointing and not worthy of the Big Eddy name.

Dark pour, beige head. Thick. Rich and roasted chocolate, coffee, toffee flavor with notes of caramel and oak. Robust. Nice. A little thin. Tastes much less than 8.5%. I am pleasantly surprised by that.

Good pour w/ a very nice aroma but the flavor doesn’t quite match up. It had a cool dark pour w/ reddish hues & a big tan head that slowly fades. The aroma is an enticing blend of toffee & caramel. The flavor is smooth but just not as complex as I hoped. Still a very solid beer overall tho!

Bottle. Dark copper with tan head. Strawberry, raspberry and caramel aromas. Berry fruits with a slightly sour finish.

Beerenberger (1605) - Fischer, Texas, USA - JAN 5, 2013
Aroma of roasted malt, caramel, and molasses. A dark bown pour with rubby highlights, no head or lacing. The taste is very malt forward. Roasted malts, a touch of bitter coffee, and a molasses finish. A grainy aftertaste remains. Medium to med-light body with medium carbonation. Overall, a nice robust roasty flavor up frontwhich disappointingly gives way to sweet molasses finish. I also wish it had a little more body.

3.5
UncleKorm (1337) - Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA - DEC 19, 2013
Bottle poured a deep dark brown hue w/ small frothy tan head and some lacing. Big sweet and licorice aromas. Initial flavor is bold sweet w/ a light bitter finish. Tastes are licorice, dark roast malt, red wine, port, toffee, and coffee. Full bodied, soft carbonation, and a dry tannin finish.

hfmejias (1297) - Marshall, Minnesota, USA - MAR 5, 2013
12 Fl. Oz. Bottle. Dark brown with little white head. Aroma of raisins, roasted malts and caramel. Taste of malts nice bitterness (just enough) well balanced with hints of chocolate and caramel. It starts quite sweet but it gets this nice bitterness towards the end which makes it very drinkable and enjoyable. Very decent.
