COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Big Eddy Baltic Porter is a blanket of malt flavor. Notes of toffee, cocoa, caramel, toasted bread and sherry fruit flavors are interwoven to produce a symphony of splendor. Our Baltic Porter is an homage to the brewers of the Baltics and a tribute to our own historic brewing waters, the Big Eddy Spring.

Sammy (12762) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - APR 6, 2013
A decent Baltic porter. Balanced, I would like a bit more bitterness edge but still a good drinkable porter. Dark coloured, fizzy disappearing head. Middling mouthfeel. Lots of chocolate. An extra in a trade, I think Beerenberger.

On tap at Tapwerks. Pours dark brown with a tan head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has sweet dark grains with sweet chocolate and a hint of roasted malts. Flavor starts with sweet dark grains and chocolate and is joined by roasted malts in the finish.

Bottle. Very dark brown pour with a tan head. Appearance and palate are fairly full-bodied. Chocolate and cocoa aroma. Taste is sweet and roasty. Quite good.

Bottle... This beer rocks!... Pours dark brown with an insignificant beige head. The aroma is a silky fusion of malty and vinous notes - milk chocolate, espresso, oloroso sherry, caramel and a nice, light nuttiness. Full-bodied and big-time creamy with adequate carbonation. The flavor is a swirl of caramel, mocha, dried plum and oloroso sherry. Roasty, caramelly, bittersweet finish. Much better than expected. A very pleasant surprise!

DocLock (11049) - Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 3, 2012
Bottle from Capone’s. Pours deep brown, and a lovely shade of deep ruby through direct light, with half a finger of fast-disspiating khaki head. Nose is charred black patent malt, cacao, blackstrap molasses. Tastes rich, dry, very charred, with the dark malt, soy saucy cloying flavor, dry hops late, and a medium palate heft. This one is a miss.

Bottle @ home, picked up at 287 Liquor Fort Collins. Pours a deep brown appearance with a dark brown head. Big sweet black licorice, brown sugar, dark fruit, chocolate, caramel, candy, a touch boozy, enticing aroma. Smells good. Quite rich, rich burnt sugar, caramelized sugar, spicy cinnamon, anise, light vanilla, a bit woody, potent chocolate flavor. Lots of raisin and dark fruit notes. It’s a big beer with big flavors. Maybe it just needed some time to mellow out. This is nice. Surprisingly pure deliciousness.

phaleslu (10670) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - DEC 28, 2012
12 oz. bottle. 2012 vintage. Pours a deep fig brown with a small tan head. Aroma of metal, dark fruits, chocolate, and toasted nuts. Flavor of dates, chocolate, dry toast, and earth. Medium-bodied, with medium carbonation and a dry, earthy mouthfeel. Decent but I normally like this style better.

3.2
arminjewell (9720) - East Lansing, Michigan, USA - DEC 26, 2012
Pour out of 12 oz bottle, dark black pour with thin tan head, aroma brought notes of dark chocolate, caramel, toffee, hints of roast, touch of earth, hints of dark fruit and red wine, some slight roast. Taste is a mix of sweet dark fruits, some roast, touch of cocoa powder, hints of a wine like note, some sweet caramel, toffee, finishing sweet. It isn’t terrible, but it is pretty sweet.

3.3
blipp (9691) - La Mesa, California, USA - NOV 26, 2012
Bottle. Pours deep brown with a beige head. Light roasted malts, some toffee and chocolate sweetness, toasted grains, and lighter earthy notes. Decent.
