2.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
This needs to age. First one tasted too sweet and under attenuated. Not very good, just too much going on with the dark fruit.
a little over the top sweetness and booze, but still pretty enjoyable. Cherries and chocolate, toffee/caramel sweetness. Not as much depth as I’d like, but still ok. FROTHINGSLOSH (8362) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 2, 2015
Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a matte black color with a large foamy orange-brown head that left decent lacing. The aroma was sweet, malty and toasty with notes of molasses, cocoa powder and soy sauce. The flavor was sweet and malty with molasses, cherry, fig, chickory, cocoa powder and soy sauce. Medium length finish. Moderately full bodied and smooth. Solid. Cybercat (6422) - Georgia, USA - SEP 7, 2015
Pours opaque sable that lets a bit of ruby light peek through at the very bottom. Tan head is fairly thick but makes an early exit. Strong aroma has rich molasses and roast malt notes plus hints of chocolate and dark fruit. Flavor bursts with molasses, charred malt and roast quality coffee; cocoa, dark fruit and a little caramel provide the background tones. Texture has firm, smooth body, though fizz is lacking. Recommended if you can find it. fidelis83 (2551) - Clinton, Iowa, USA - FEB 2, 2015
Black pour with a small, orange-tan head. Aroma is full of dark fruit, reduced fruit juices, dark sugar and pine tar, plenty of dark chocolate and dark caramel in there as well. Flavor is big on roast, molasses, dark fruit, port wine simmered tree fruit, chocolate and toffee nuts, there’s some caramel, earthy grain, licorice, cherry, fig jam and raisin in there as well. Finishes a little tart and lightly metallic, but with lots of dark fruit carrying on. Heavy to medium body, chewy to goopy feel on entry, dry, slightly acidic and metallic-dry, but goopy finish, medium, sharp carbonation. Good stuff overall, but the metallic notes and weird mouthfeel definitely hold it back. I really want to give it a higher score, but the mouthfeel kinda sucks. Bottle at a BOSS meeting thanks to Goetz! Pours brown with a creamy tan head. Aroma is toffee and malt. Flavor follows and is much more toffee and caramel than roast. Really nice beer. Not quite a Baltic Porter, but really nice nonetheless.

Bottle... This beer rocks!... Pours dark brown with an insignificant beige head. The aroma is a silky fusion of malty and vinous notes - milk chocolate, espresso, oloroso sherry, caramel and a nice, light nuttiness. Full-bodied and big-time creamy with adequate carbonation. The flavor is a swirl of caramel, mocha, dried plum and oloroso sherry. Roasty, caramelly, bittersweet finish. Much better than expected. A very pleasant surprise! Darkmagus82 (2303) - - SEP 12, 2014

Poured from bottle into a snifter
Appearance – The beer pours a deep-deep chestnut color bordering on black. Upon pouring there is a thin tan colored foam sitting atop the brew which fades rather rapidly to leave almost no lacing on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is a nice mix of a dark roasted malt aroma and some rather strong boozy aromas of port. Along with these smells are aromas of chocolate, caramel, as well as some dark fruits bringing sweeter notes to the nose and combining with the others to give a nice warming aroma to the brew.
Taste – The taste starts out with some roasted malt flavors as well as quite a bit of a sweeter dark fruit flavor of cherry and raisin. As the flavors advance more sweetness of some plum as well as a red wine like boozy grape flavor come to the tongue. A bit of a cocoa flavor comes more toward the end of the taste, along with an increase in the alcohol flavors due to an oncoming port taste entering the taste. In the end, the combination of sweeter dark fruits and boozy flavors leaves a rather port wine mixed with roasted malt flavor to be left to linger on the tongue; warming the mouth nicely.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew a bit light for Baltic category brew. The carbonation level, on the other hand, is slightly above average. For the style, the opposite characteristics; a lower carbonation and thicker creaminess, may have better suited the style giving all the boozy fruit flavors a chance to soak into the tongue.
Overall –Not a bad Baltic overall. There are lots of port and dark fruit flavors swirling within this one, creating a rather fruity and sweet brew. SamP01 (673) - New Jersey, USA - JUL 19, 2014
Pours cloudy dark brown with quickly fading razor thin head. Aroma is of rich roasted caramel malt with some mild dark fruity notes. Taste is sweet dark mild roasted caramel malt, coffee bean, some dark fruity notes, dried figs and mild bitterness. Palate is medium body, slightly viscous mouth feel, moderate carbonation. Finishes with mild dark roasted caramel malt, mild dark fruity notes and a mild roasted malt and coffee bean, mild dark fruit on the backend. Overall, this quite a good and tasty Baltic Porter. I like. Bulk_Carrier (6064) - Vermont, USA - JUN 28, 2014
Reviewed from notes.
This was poured into a pint glass and a snifter. There weren’t any significant differences in either glass.
The appearance was a nice black color with a decent half fingered white to off white foamy head that dissipated within about a minute. There was some light trickling lacing sliding right on into the body.
The smell had some caramel, toffee, cocoa, toasted bread and a cherry-like fruit to it.
The taste took those previously mentioned flavors and added a decent dark roasty quality to it.
On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a decent sessionable quality about it. The carbonation was fairly subdued but still good.
Overall, I say this was a well worthy Baltic Porter to come back to. Ericular (1044) - Minnesota, USA - JUN 27, 2014
Pours a dark reddish brown with brown head fading to a ring leaving some oily spotty lacing. Aroma is molasses, toffee, nutty. Taste is sweet and almost rich at first, but things fall apart as a fruity tartness comes in the middle, ending with a licorice soy sauce astringency. Has potential, but never achieves greatness.
