Vintage 2012, 12oz bottle. Very dark brown pour, thin ring tan head. Aroma of molasses, sweet toasted malt syrup, dark fruit puree, and chocolate malt. Tastes like a burnt Belgian Dubbel. Chocolate malt, dark fruit, wood tannin bitterness. A bite of a boozy finish in the roasted flavors left behind. (3486) Mora2000 (6158) - McKinney, Texas, USA - NOV 8, 2012
The beer pours a dark brown color with a white head. The aroma is full of alcohol and some dark fruit notes. I also get a little bit of brown sugar. The flavor is similar. I get a lot of raisin and prune notes, as well as some molasses and roasted malt. I also get the slightest hint of smoke. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. blutt59 (6579) - Dallas, Texas, USA - NOV 15, 2012

Bottle. The look is lot like Pepsi, light beige colored head, and clear. The smell is malty, toffee, fruits, raisans, fig, and ok. The taste is fruity, roast, malt, sweet, too sweet, and sugary. MaltOne (389) - Wisconsin, USA - DEC 21, 2012
UPDATED: DEC 22, 2012 On tap @ Silver Creek. Of the Big Eddy’s I’ve tried (Imp. Russian Stout and Wee Heavy being the others) it’s not my favorite. Pours opaque chocoate brown with a pretty cream/tan head. Aroma is a little hard to pin down... toasted hemp? Flavor follows with ... again the toasted hemp and general roastiness and a slight sour finish. Medium body. Overall, not a beer I’d stock up on, but I commend the effort - I applaud a mass producer’s effort into making a quality beer. Beerenberger (1605) - Fischer, Texas, USA - JAN 5, 2013
Aroma of roasted malt, caramel, and molasses. A dark bown pour with rubby highlights, no head or lacing. The taste is very malt forward. Roasted malts, a touch of bitter coffee, and a molasses finish. A grainy aftertaste remains. Medium to med-light body with medium carbonation. Overall, a nice robust roasty flavor up frontwhich disappointingly gives way to sweet molasses finish. I also wish it had a little more body. jkbachman (181) - - JAN 7, 2013
Little head retention. Low aroma profile. Bitter chocolate, coffee, toffee and licorice. Finishes slightly bitter.
