COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Big Eddy Baltic Porter is a blanket of malt flavor. Notes of toffee, cocoa, caramel, toasted bread and sherry fruit flavors are interwoven to produce a symphony of splendor. Our Baltic Porter is an homage to the brewers of the Baltics and a tribute to our own historic brewing waters, the Big Eddy Spring.

12oz served in a Southern Tier tulip. A - Yellowish tan head on top of a dark garnet brown body. S - Prunes, toasted cereal, molasses, caramel, leather, very faint charred malts, very sweet aroma, cherry fruit, some sweet rose aroma. When it warms molasses dominates everything. T - Tangy molasses, sticky raisins and caramel, roasted malts, hints of baker’s chocolate, has some bitterness as well as a slight sour note. Some leather around the edges. Finishes with a a roasty bitterness. M - Medium body, low to medium carbonation, thin but sticky at times. This is actually pretty good. If this was in a blind taste test I think this would get better reviews. Very robust flavors with a balanced bitter roast. It’s a tad sweet but it’s a big beer with tons of sticky flavor. Serving type: bottle 10-19-2012

Dark brown with small wispy tan head and solid ring around glass. Aroma is fairly sweet, caramel, toffee, chocolate, brown sugar, dark fruit/raisiny. Flavor much the same but without as much substance. Medium body, soft, turns a little thin. Mild roastyness, some alcohol, fairly sweet with medium duration. Some sips I like better than others.

Good pour w/ a very nice aroma but the flavor doesn’t quite match up. It had a cool dark pour w/ reddish hues & a big tan head that slowly fades. The aroma is an enticing blend of toffee & caramel. The flavor is smooth but just not as complex as I hoped. Still a very solid beer overall tho!

This is an okay baltic porter. Its very rich, but a bit unbalanced in its roastiness. Tastes almost burnt.

Bottle poured a deep dark brown hue w/ small frothy tan head and some lacing. Big sweet and licorice aromas. Initial flavor is bold sweet w/ a light bitter finish. Tastes are licorice, dark roast malt, red wine, port, toffee, and coffee. Full bodied, soft carbonation, and a dry tannin finish.

12oz. bottle, 2012 vintage. Some berry jam and dried fruit in the aroma, along with notes of darkly toasted, lightly sweet malts, toffee and some faintly earthy, winey touches in the background. Dark mahogany in color, nearly black, with a very slight, light tan ring head. Flavor profile is gently sweet, fruity and lightly tart, some cherry, prune and faint cocoa, and finishing with a toffeeish, toasty malt presence and faint alcohol. Very low in effervescence on the palate, mildly warming, tannic and coating, and with a full body. Interesting take on the style for sure.

Bottle. Dark brown pour, small ring of carbonation and an aroma of a light cocoa. Flavor is a little caramel, more chocolate, some dark cherry and slightly vegetal and thin on the finish. Was hoping for a richer/thicker body, but still not too bad.

Lots of chocolate in the nose and over all not too bad, but nothing special. A nice choice if you’re looking for a darker beer on a hotter day.
