This is an okay baltic porter. Its very rich, but a bit unbalanced in its roastiness. Tastes almost burnt. UncleKorm (1315) - Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA - DEC 19, 2013
Bottle poured a deep dark brown hue w/ small frothy tan head and some lacing. Big sweet and licorice aromas. Initial flavor is bold sweet w/ a light bitter finish. Tastes are licorice, dark roast malt, red wine, port, toffee, and coffee. Full bodied, soft carbonation, and a dry tannin finish. Indra (2711) - Suburbia, Kansas, USA - FEB 14, 2014
12oz. bottle, 2012 vintage. Some berry jam and dried fruit in the aroma, along with notes of darkly toasted, lightly sweet malts, toffee and some faintly earthy, winey touches in the background. Dark mahogany in color, nearly black, with a very slight, light tan ring head. Flavor profile is gently sweet, fruity and lightly tart, some cherry, prune and faint cocoa, and finishing with a toffeeish, toasty malt presence and faint alcohol. Very low in effervescence on the palate, mildly warming, tannic and coating, and with a full body. Interesting take on the style for sure. DalzAle (2036) - Eden Prairie, Minnesota, USA - SEP 6, 2012
Bottle. Dark brown pour, small ring of carbonation and an aroma of a light cocoa. Flavor is a little caramel, more chocolate, some dark cherry and slightly vegetal and thin on the finish. Was hoping for a richer/thicker body, but still not too bad. DasBierChef (1083) - Hudson, Wisconsin, USA - SEP 18, 2012
Lots of chocolate in the nose and over all not too bad, but nothing special. A nice choice if you’re looking for a darker beer on a hotter day.

Dark mohogany pour with a brown head. Aroma is roasted malt, licorice. Taste is sweet, roasted malt., dark fruit, chalky. The flavor sticks with you. Trev (2023) - Lakeville, Minnesota, USA - OCT 12, 2012
bottle: Pour is dark brown with ruby highlights and a medium creamy tan head.
aroma is dusty cocoa and caramel. some woody herbal/licorice notes.
Dark fruit and toffe in the front for flavour. some nutty chocolate and roasted malt, bit thin towards the end though. dwyerpg (6062) - Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - OCT 12, 2012
This is pretty sweet but not a whole lot that’s good in the flavor or body. Mostly it’s sugary and chocolaty but just not all that good. Bricktop86 (844) - Moore, Oklahoma, USA - OCT 29, 2012
UPDATED: NOV 5, 2012 Pours reddish brown with no head. Not much aroma. Taste is sweet bitter and slightly sour

Dark brown almost black color with very minimal lacing. There is a robust chocolate coffee nose. Palate is full bodied with a licorice overtone with a coffee bean backing. Smooth overall with a roasted coffee finish that last for a while. Good beer to warm you up on those cold nights...licorice is present.
