Sampled at an esbls tasting. Copper hue with minimal foam. Sobtle citrus hop aroma. Hop flavors that are nicely complex. Floral and citrus. Lots of sweetness here. BrewHaMeister (456) - Wisconsin, USA - JUL 3, 2012
This bright copper IPA has a nice hop aroma, but I was left wanting a little more; not surprising from a bottle though. The initial bitterness is nicely balanced with the following malt flavors. The alcohol content is deceptively dangerous. Overall I enjoyed this IPA and would recommend trying it. MadRobin (2989) - Silver Spring, Maryland, USA - JUL 2, 2012
UPDATED: JUL 3, 2012 On tap 5 oz. sample at Judges Bench in Ellicott City, MD. Very clear, golden orange copper with very good lacing. Sweet aroma of pine, orange, herbs, lime, apple and caramel. Taste of citrus, caramel, bread and pine all very nicely balanced. Medium body and mild carbonation. Slick mouthfeel, but pleasantly so. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone TheEpeeist (3709) - Media, Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 1, 2012
12 oz bottle. Clear copper with an off-white head. Nose is pine, toffee, orange and tea. Resiny medium body with foamy carb. Taste is caramel, lemon peel, pink grapefruit and pine sap. Solid but safe. Crash (549) - Macomb, Illinois, USA - JUN 29, 2012
Very nice aroma. Hoppy maybe a bit floral and citrus. Poured with a nice head that doesn’t last long. Taste was interesting. Starts malty, then pine, and then finishes a mix of both until the pines wins. I’m not a fan of IPAs but this wasn’t bad.

Bold tropical fruits followed by a grapefruit nose. A mixture of pineapple and citrus flavors with a quick presence of bitterness. Malts take a second seat to the hops, however the malts do backup the beer enough. Mild sweet finish mixed with a well balance dryness. Damn good beer. Pint at Tylers Apex. Good aroma, sweet. Herbal, fruity. Nice pine orange scent, real nice actually. Clean reddish orange color. Ok yeah and lace. Sweet bitter flavor. Medium body, oily creamy mouthfeel, dry finish. Nice, a lot better than I was expecting. Orange grew as it warmed on aroma. Solid. BOLTZ7555 (3028) - Phoenix, Arizona, USA - JUN 26, 2012
Excited to see this back on the shelf! Crystal-clear, 24 karat pour that illuminates the glass and is topped by a silky ivory cap. Nice ringlets line the glass after every sip. Aggressive grapefruit pith, orangepeel, and lemon zest are partnered with bright evergreen. A hint of noticeable alcohol but clean. Leaves a lasting impression of bitterness that hangs on the palate. Good. HonkeyBra (4044) - Lemont, Illinois, USA - JUN 23, 2012
I feel like I know this beer before I even open it. Leinenkugel’s has fooled a lot of people. It amazes me that so many people think Summer Shandy is a beer rather than an alki-pop. And, it further amazes me how many people think the beers in the Big Eddy series are anything but mediocre. It pours a dark caramel-amber. Thick white head. Aroma of medium floral and pine notes. Detectable caramel and toffee as well. Flavor has a medium bitterness, strong astringency, toffee and caramel malt dominate. TOFFEE AND CARAMEL in a damn double IPA. It obviously muddies up the hops. I mean, what the hell am I drinking? Thin bodied, soft carbonation. I can’t get over how inappropriate the hop notes are for this beer. It kind of tastes like a heavy pale ale rather than a DIPA. I guess Leinenkugel’s gets the last laugh. They got my ten bucks for this four-pack. GhostFace (477) - Wisconsin, USA - JUN 23, 2012
orange-amber in color, solid white head sits on top. aroma is malty and earthy hops. flavor is malt forward but does have a nice hop profile. very lingering bitter finish. solid effort from the Leinie folks.
