COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Big Eddy Russian Imperial Stout was brewed at Leinenkugel’s tiny 10th street brewery in Milwaukee. This brew boasts a selection of 11 malts and grains balanced by three different and distinct hops. Dark and complex, with chocolate tones and notes of dark fruits, it is daring yet delicious. Travels well. Ages well.

Possibly one of the most (if not the most) anticipated releases from a Wisconsin Brewery I remember. Served on tap at the Horse & Plow in Kohler. Poured into a snifter black as night that lies still at first then created a perfect deep brown head. Head diminishes leaving a great lace across the top. Aromas of Coffee, Chocolate and dark fruit with hints of Vanilla and a slight wisp of alcohol. Thick slightly sticky mouth feel but both are kept in check. Not over the top like a lot of RIS seem to be. The same can be said for the flavor. I was surprised how suppressed the alcohol presence is. Bitter coffee is prominent with a perfect amount of malt and hops. So easy to drink it’s scary! Fantastic job Leinenkugel Brewing Company- Listen to the beer geeks, not your accountants. Keep rolling out the Big Eddy releases!!!

Growler. Near black color with a taller tan tight bubbled head. Aromas of roasted malt, light berries, figs, raisins and dark chocolate. Lips smacking sticky liquid. Coats the mouth as well as the glass. Sweet roasted malt flavors which show the malt backbone. Some lavender and herbal hops in the middle. Dark chocolate and a touch of berries in the finish. A full and satisfying imperial stout.

On Tap at Miller Tech Center (9-26-07), 11.3% ABV. Pitch black color, frothy amber-brown head. Aroma is a wonderful blend of roast, spice, chocolate, light coffee and a touch of vanilla. Flavor is raisony sweetness, vanilla, spice, roast and light chocolate. Medium to full bodied. The finish warms the insides as it goes down. Another great Big Eddy beer.
