Bottle shared at a tasting at Beer Market Jaffa. Black with a nice brown head, a bit creamy. Aroma of dark chocolate, mocha, some liqueur and a bit of dark fruits. Flavor of lots of chocolate with some berries/cherries, some caramel, a nutty note and a drier and slightly burnt finish. Full-bodied. Great stuff.

Bottle from Shigadey. Poured a black color with a moderate rocky brown head that mostly lasted and produced sticky legs and good lacing. Good roasted chocolate, coffee, ginger and alcohol aroma. Full body with a smooth texture. Heavy complex roasted bittersweet stout flavor with a smooth bittersweet finish of long duration. This is a standout brew.

Bottle... a most excellent bonus from Pailhead. Pours absolutely black with a dark brown head and decent lacing. Aromas of coffee and chocolate. Taste is very intense! Similar notes as in the aroma with a nice bitterness to balance it out. Creamy mouthfeel. This is a damned good stout.

2010 vintage. It pours a dense, dark black with a nice foamy tan head. Thehead sticks for a nice while. It has a bit of decent lacing. The smell is pretty standard for a RIS. It is clean, not superbly fragrant, but consistent with the style. There is some raisin, dark fruits, cocoa, and coffee The flavor is where you can tell this is a leine’s product. It isn’t bad but it is inferior to the standard of the style. It has a lot of components: a nice bitterness, coffee, caramel, chocolate, dark fruits, a surprising hppiness, and a hint of roastiness, but it doesn’t mesh as well as it could. There is a flavor sticking out that is just unnatural. The mouthfeel is pretty full-bodied, perhaps a bit excessive carbonation however. The alcohol isn’t completely hidden. It has a bit of a cloying sweetness. It is a nice attempt by a macro brewery, but there is still room for improvement. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 11-10-2010 23:21:11

Black with a lasting tan head. Big aroma of chocolate, dried fruit, licorice and vineous alcohol. Sweet licorice, sugar and chocolate flavour with a roasted finish. Inviting aroma but too much sugary sweetness in the mouth.

12-oz bottle received via trade with tjthresh. Pours opaque with a small, fizzy, light brown head, somewhat lasting with fair lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (molasses, chocolate, coffee), average hops (perfume), average yeast (leather) with notes of alcohol, prune, smoke, tar, and licorice. Full bodied, creamy texture, soft carbonation, and a bitter finish. Long duration, moderate sweetness and bitterness, light acidity.

UPDATED: FEB 4, 2011 Bottle at Bodega in La Crosse. Pours brownish-black with a medium foamy khaki head that recedes steadily. Rings of lacing. Roasted coffee aroma with hops behind it. Medium body with a roasty coffee character and flavors of grainy malt and hops. The finish is black coffee with a lingering roasty flavor left over. Above average overall.
