On tap at the Chicago Beer Society’s Umpteenth Annual Picnic, and self served to a clear, plastic shaker showing a clear, amber hue, with frothy, off white head foam, and wavy cling to the lacing. The nose was toasted, malty, caramel, and alcohol at the ready. Medium bodied, with decent carbonation, the alcohol revealed more of a slightly boozy nature, there was moderate bitterness, but the flavor was a bit too malty sweet for my tastes. Marzens are definitely meant to be more drinkable, imo. keith0718 (434) - Kansas, USA - SEP 6, 2014
The only good thing about this beer is that it taught me a lesson: some styles shouldn’t be effed with. I love love love Octoberfest beer, but make it uber style and it’s nasty effin $h!+. kkleu357 (634) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - SEP 5, 2014
Sample at the lodge. Slight grain aroma. Deeper amber color. Big Sweet gain malty taste. Much better than the regular October fest. legion242 (2348) - Richardson, Texas, USA - AUG 30, 2014
Poured a medium russet colour with very little head. In the mouth it is a malt bomb, but in a good way. Could not have more then one. tmongoose (2504) - Louisville, Kentucky, USA - AUG 27, 2014
12oz bottle shared. Pours a dark copper orange color with off white head. Mild lacing on the glass. Aroma is of s big sweet malt and a touch of nuttiness. Flavor is a "über" malt flavor with hazelnuts. Solid flavor start to finish.

Bottle from Total Wine in Sacramento, CA. Pours clear light copper with a slight off-white head. Aroma is sort of cooked oatmeal with mixed floral/fruit hop. Med + body or better. Flavor is sort of cooked cereal with some heat and moderate floral/fruit hop. It is smooth. It is slick. The flavors aren’t really strong, but they are firm, and it’s rather amazing. "Toastier"? Maybe that’s part of it. Don’t dismiss this ale! teemoney (95) - Wisconsin, USA - AUG 26, 2014
Poured from bottle into small taster glass. Goldish amber color with thin white quickly dissipating head. Smells of lager yeast and sweet malts. Taste is very sweet, pretty simple. Medium body, kind of slick feel. Really not bad, higher abv is masked well. Very sweet. anthony850 (472) - Andover, New Jersey, USA - AUG 20, 2014
Too malty. I don't like it.

2013 bottling aged a year in my beer refrigerator. Pours dark copper with a nice light amber head. Dissipates in about 10 minutes. Light lacing. Alcohol subdued vs fresh. Slightly sweet, no hop bitterness. Cellaring did wonders. Love it after one year sturmthis (1149) - Bavaria, GERMANY - AUG 15, 2014
12oz bottle. Amber with one finger white head. Sweet malty aroma. Taste is similar with a little alcohol. Alright
