3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Appearance is a brilliant amber with an orange hue and minimal, slightly off whit foam cap. Aroma is strong caramel and toasted malt with a definite citrus/ floral hop aroma, which is interesting for an Oktoberfest. Taste is a deep rich caramel malt with a little roast and hint of citrus. Mouthfeel is rather thick with little carbonation. Finish is malt heavy and a bit sticky on the tongue. Overall, it’s what you’d expect for an "imperial" Oktoberfest. Nicely balanced with hops to keep the malt from being too overpowering.
Bottled. A dark amber beer with a lazing tan head. The aroma has notes of malt, caramel, and metal. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, caramel, and metal, leading to a dry metallic finish. Borup (15915) - Albertslund, DENMARK - JAN 10, 2018

12 ounce bottle from...umm, I forget, somewhere in southern Wisconsin in the last week (I’ve done a lot of shopping lately), served at cellar temp or so in a St. Ambroise glass. Pours a clear dark amber-copper with a moderate white head that diminishes to a thin lasting cap...nose offers lots of caramel, toasty malts, a hint of alcohol, a bit of cherry perhaps - comes off closer to a doppelbock actually...on the tongue a fairly strong caramel-sugary component mingle with some toasted, drier malt character, with a rather bitter (at least for the style), burnt finish...as far as hops go, I can’t really detect much, perhaps some faint piney notes here and there...body is smooth, a bit too filtered, but reasonably full-bodied, moderate carbonation, light alcohol presence and syrupiness. I rather like this, though I believe I liked it more when I had it on tap a couple of times over the last couple of seasons; ah, the joys of not rating! Picked up single 12-oz bottle from Heritage Liquors in Maplewood, MN. Pours a semi-clear orange amber colored brew with an average sized off-white head that slowly dissipates. Aroma of roasted sweet caramel malt, a hint of floral & grassy hops and some mild maple. Taste is full bodied with flavors of sweet caramel malt, floral hops and lot of fruity esters. Finish is thick and semi-sweet with a caramel malt, floral hops, and a little alcohol kck. An Americanized Oktoberfest with bit extra hops and alcohol.
