COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Filling the senses with a fragrant malt aroma, Big Eddy Wee Heavy Scotch Ale features a variety of robust malts that create rich flavor and texture. Hand-selected malts include Pale, Honey, Caracrystal Wheat, Roasted, Victory, and Cherrywood Smoked. Like its predecessor, Russian Imperial Stout, Big Eddy Wee Heavy Scotch Ale ages and travels well.

Leinenkugels Big Eddy Wee Heavy Scotch Ale, a dense, mahogany-colored brew, features a creamy tan foam. As it warms, the layers of malt flavors will melt together revealing the subtle undertones of fruit and biscuits. As the brew mellows, it reveals more of its plum, raisin, and dark cherry flavors.

Bottle to snifter. Looks alright, but a little thin. Smells decent; what youd expect. Tastes meh. Good...for a Leine.

On tap at Flipdaddys, served in a snifter. Little khaki head. Clear darker red / brown color. Nice, rich caramel light smoky scotch aroma. Good, sweet and savory taste. Lighter, crisp carbonation. Decent smokey sweet aftertaste, but kind of syrupy. Im not a big scotch ale guy so I wouldnt choose this as a go-to, but I think this is a pretty respectable example of the style.

Clear dark ruby brown in color. Nice toasty malt and toffee aroma. Sweet herbal flavor sorta like Jgermiester. Overall a nice brew. Thanks to BarZigKin for the tasty birthday present!

UPDATED: MAY 14, 2012 A $2.89 12oz. sized bottle of this cost me an almost $5 if drunk at the Taste of Tops bar, kind of perplexing.. Pours a syrupy ruby color with a pastel tawny head that shrunk into itself than less than five seconds of rise. Smells of sugar plums, BBQ smoked malt, lavender, pressed copper and youngish booze. Tastes predominately the same, however its much sweeter than I initially expected: representing caramelized raisins, cough suppressant, butterscotch, breaded chicken wings, and this sincerely odd artificial tangerine bite by mid-to-late-palate; not the same whatsoever as hop bitterness, theres almost none of that in any sequenced part of this beer.Enjoyable for the most but not particularly interesting or good enough to ever try again.

Bottle pour into tulip. Very nice nose: smoke, malt. Very well balanced taste. Full flavored. And yes, the high ABV has a nice, warming effect that leaves me with a favorable impression of this offering from Leinenkugels. I like what they do with the Big Eddy series.

Aroma- caramel, toffee, butter, slight hops Appearance- dark, dank, brown, thin head, decent carbonation Taste- viscous malts, caramel, maple syrup Palate- nice body and slick mouthfeel Overall- One-dimensional but a decent dimension. Scotch ales arent my favorite but this is certainly worth a try.

Bottle; Pour is golden / ruby hued with a modest fine bubbled off white head in this glass. It retains on the average side with some modest lacing present. The nose is caramel, toffee, peat, and smoke. The flavor profile is more smoke dominant than I would expect for the style. There is a hint of booze; another element Im not looking for, with more caramel and toffee near the middle, some peat, with some dark fruits and light bitterness near the finish. Its a decent scotch, but

(12oz bottle). Pours a clear garnet color with a thin eggshell colored head. Aroma is smoke, caramel, bread, pit fruit. Taste is sweet with ample savory smoke and a touch of bitterness. Thin to medium bodied with a slick mouthfeel. This is a pretty damn tasty beer. Well done!

A deep red, mahogany pour with a light tan head. The aroma is very malty with notes of caramel, prune, some black licorice, and slightly woody. The full body has a slick texture with soft carbonation. It has a sweet taste that warms up from the alcohol for slightly boozy finish.

Casonnade, pices et mlasse dans un bouquet qui me rappelle presque les muffins aux carottes. Un peu mince en bouche pour me charmer mais le profil de saveurs est quand mme intressant. La bire dans lensemble, lest un peu moins.
