COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In 1906, the Kolsch-style beer originated from the Cologne region of Germany as a crisp and light beer to combat the summer heat. Leinenkugel’s® Canoe Paddler™ is our take on the Kolsch-style beer that we tweaked with a touch of rye. Our spring and summer seasonal has subtle malt flavors, a clean finish and adventurous quality.

Another permutation from MIller/Leinenkugels. This one is a bit lighter than their regular lager, but has the same grapefruit notes from their standard yeast strain and is not an ale and not a Kölsch. Just another low quality beer at a premium price. If you like Leinies original, you will like this one, otherwise don´t waste your time. Miller/Leinenkugels continues to give you artificial flavors and colors added to their original lager as they expand their product range instead of trying to brew a decent beer.

Thin, dry, crisp, bready, refreshing and uninteresting. This is a clean beer that is great on a scorching hot day. It has a bit of spice from the rye but not much else to speak of.

12oz bottle to tulip. Pours clear gold, white foam head. Aroma of green apple, honey, lemon, corn, grain. Taste of same with sweet rye bread and a lot of sour green apple.. If I made this at home, I’d be disappointed. Haha

From a mixed 12. Has this sort of corny green apple nose that reminds me of the one shitty batch of homebrew I made. Took me an hour to dump all those bottles down the drain when I left Seattle after aging them for 4 years in my closet. Thankfully there are only 2 more bottles of this.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, best before 6/20/2016. Pours fairly crystal clear pale golden yellow color with a 2 finger fairly dense and fluffy white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of lemon, pear, apple, cracker, biscuit, spicy rye, herbal, grass, light pepper, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance of bready/rye malt and light-moderate earthy hop/fruity yeast notes; with solid strength. Taste of lemon, pear, apple, cracker, biscuit, spicy rye, herbal, grass, light pepper, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate herbal/spicy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of cracker, biscuit, spicy rye, pepper, and herbal/grassy earthiness on the finish for a short bit. Nice robustness and balance of bready/rye malt and light-moderate earthy hop/fruity yeast flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Moderate dryness from carbonation and bitterness as well. Medium-high carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, crisp, and lightly grainy/sticky balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with zero warming present after the finish as expected of 5%. Overall this is a nice Kolsch style. All around good robustness and balance of bready/rye malt and light-moderate earthy hop/fruity yeast flavors; and very smooth, crisp, clean, and refreshing to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.

Now I liked this one, but I’m a fan of the rye’s. Lots of good malty rye flavors here would recommend.

Where and how: bottle, tasting
Aroma: medium intense, with higher pitch. Malty sweetness with herbal hops. ..not most refined.
Appearance :
Top: mid sized, white cap. Some lace shown.
Base: clear, gold
Palate : soft, medium bodied. Easy going with its lighter carbonation. Sadly, fades quickly.
Taste: softer walls, clean with softer mid. Lacking crispness, is it rye?
other notes clean, refreshing brew but lacking a bit of crisp lagery vibe that Kolsch has.
