UPDATED: APR 15, 2014 Tap: Retired?! Deep brown, woody color, letting a decent amount of light shine through. Light-beige "head" is reduced to a collar instantly. Very nutty aroma... Walnuts, pecans, hints of chocolate candy over the top. Very tame & somewhat weak, but not bad. Taste includes hints of cocoa powder, nuts, roasted grains & barley, & virtually no hop bitterness or presence. Nice warming quality to it... Not due to alcohol, just a warmness that’s sometimes indicative of brown ales. Overall, this really isn’t that bad. Just very weak... amped up, this might be a very good brown ale. As it stands, simply okay, but one of Leinie’s better brews. ads135 (5053) - Omaha, Nebraska, USA - NOV 8, 2013
Completely uninteresting. If there is a sweet nuttiness to this, I can’t tell. Watery with an aftertaste of stale bread. NeoHippie2 (1074) - Louisville, Kentucky, USA - SEP 12, 2013
I can’t believe I haven’t rated this beer before now. I’ve had it many times. This was actually one of the better brews from Leinenkugel’s in my opinion. It had a nice nutty character to it with caramel and toffee notes. Decent nut brown. I’m surprised they retired it. Imaena (2359) - Maputo, MOZAMBIQUE - JUN 21, 2013
Decent for a macro bottle beer. Tasted vaguely crafty. But really why buy it? mnmike (1091) - Minnesota, USA - JUN 13, 2013
Had a bottle of this at my future brother in law’s house. Don’t know how long it’s been sitting there since I see it’s now retired...

12 ounce bottle poured an amber brown color with aromas of light roasted malt, some light caramel, and some nuts. Flavors are the same, light malt followed by some light nuts in the aftertaste. Ed5388 (3488) - Forked River, New Jersey, USA - MAR 24, 2013
On tap at The Cove NJ. Pours a deep reddish brown color with a decent sized head. Aroma of strong caramel malts and toffee, with a touch of chocolate. Taste of caramel upfront with a slight bitterness in the finish. Chocolate malt, toffee, caramel, and roasted nuts come through as it warms. Ret12 (454) - Maryland, USA - MAR 16, 2013
I thought that this beer was pretty tasty. Nice hazelnut flavor with a tiny hop bitterness. Lemke10 (996) - Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA - JAN 24, 2013
Pours a clear medium amber color with a slight fluffy head. Scent is malty with some hints of hazelnut. Has a bold roasted nut flavor that really hints the taste buds. Overall is very smooth and has a very decent volume to it. Probably one of the more flavorful Leinenkugel’s beers available but compared to other nut brown ale beers, this one is slightly better than average. rayy (66) - Ohio, USA - JAN 18, 2013
Pretty average. Light brown to copper, sweetish, with a slight hazelnut (I think) or maybe maple extract taste. No noticeable hops or spice. Quaffable, but not worth seeking out.
