In early fall 2012; Leinenkugel’s introduced its newest beer, Lemon Berry Shandy. It is rumored that this was crudely made over the years at Summerfest by combining their Summer Shandy and Berry Weiss. It became fairly popular and even was made in the bars before finally being a beer of its own. Let’s see how it fairs when it comes down to rating.
It pours a murky pink color like grapefruit juice with a light pink head. There is a mild scent of lemons and blackberries in the mix as well as wheat. Overall there is a sweet aroma indicating a sweet flavor. This is fairly inviting.
The taste of Berry Weiss is very evident here with lots of blackberry juice flavor. There is an after taste of lemon that is a little off-putting. The taste is obviously fruity and kind of awkward throughout. It finishes kind of tangy and sour leaving an unpleasant taste in your mouth.
Two decently made beers combined sounds like a good idea, but the execution of the plan falls short. This is a great summer beer when you are thirsty after mowing the yard. But as a rate-able fruit beer, there are a lot better beers on the market. Better than average overall, but not by much.
UPDATED: OCT 14, 2017 Can. It poured a hazy reddish gold with a tight white head. The aroma was light berry with some citrus notes. The taste was slightly tart. Nice. tmoreau (4632) - Lombard, Illinois, USA - OCT 1, 2017
12 oz. can poured to a small Czech-pils glass at home showing a slightly lazed, orangey/gold color, a modest layer of white froth, with dots & dashes of lacing. The nose expressed an initial hint of medicinal scent, a little menthol, slight tanginess, some artificial fruitiness, then rhubarb, tangerine, a touch of lemon rind, but no detectable berry. Light bodied, with slight spritz to the effervescence, the taste only lightly mimicked the aroma notes, was too sweet, presented slight, earthy & ripe fruit astringency, and became thin & watery. The least acceptable Shandy on Leinie's list for me. JPDIPSO (6286) - Wauwatosa, USA - MAY 1, 2017
Cloudy golden color with a hint of pink. Diminished white head, that also carries a touch of pink. Lemon juice with a hint of pale malt aromas. Sweet start with lemonade and pale malt flavors. Middle is rather dry and finish has a lemon cake and acidic, nearly acrid bite. 9/13

I think all of Leinenkugels’ fruit beers are the same: fruity and delicious, but leave you wishing they had something more distinguishing than which fruit is in this particular beer you’re drinking at that moment. arn8897 (447) - Trenton, Ohio, USA - OCT 6, 2015
Pours light hazy red. Aromas of citrus and berries. Very sweet taste light and refreshing. Not bad. Nothing special.

Botte. Hazy orange pour, minimal head, some lemon and spice in the nose. Mild blackberry, a lot of lemon in the flavor, somewhat sweet. hotstuff (5258) - Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA - OCT 3, 2014
Backlog rating on 9-14-2012 at Cap n’ Cork Covington Plaza, Fort Wayne, IN beer tasting. This bottled beer has a small off-white head with a lengthy retention, cloudy peachy body and spotty amounts of lacing. The aroma is lemon, berries and sweet. The flavor mimics the aroma. The mouthfeel of this beer is smooth and this beer is light bodied. This beer is easy to drink and does not have much character to it. It is not a beer that left me wanting it again. It is rather boring for me. osu97gp (678) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - SEP 20, 2014
Pours a hazy orange with a medium sized fluffy white head. Aroma of lemon and fruit. Flavor matches. Way too easy to drink. Darkmagus82 (2303) - - SEP 12, 2014

Poured from can into a pint glass
Appearance – Pours a very hazy-murky pinkish orange colored brew. Upon poring there is a big billowy pinkish tinted head that fades rather fast and leave a decent level of lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is very sweet with a big aroma of lemonade. Mixed with these smells are some lighter aromas of a blueberry and raspberry smell.
Taste – The taste begins with a strong lemonade sweetness mixed with a little bit of a malt taste. The sweeter lemonade flavor remains rather constant throughout the taste and is joined more toward the middle by some flavors of a nondescript candy like berry. A light amount of a musky and floral flavors come to the tongue at the end leaving an overall sweet lemonade flavor to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel –The body of the brew was very thin in creaminess and thickness with a carbonation level that was on the more average side. Both are good for the sweet and fruity flavors for the brew and make for an easy drinker.
Overall – Well not really anything all that amazing. Like a hard lemonade light beer blend. It may be good for a hot summer day after mowing the lawn, but otherwise nothing I would really go for on any real occasion.
