12 ounce bottle into lager glass, best before 12/5/2016. Pours crystal clear dark reddish brown color with a small fairly dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big maple syrup, wood, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, brown bread, and light herbal. Okay aromas with solid balance of maple, dark/bready malt, and light earthy hop notes; with great strength. Way too much maple in the aromas. Taste of big maple syrup, wood, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, toasted brown bread, light nuttiness/roast, and herbal/toasted earthiness. Light herbal/spicy hop and roast bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of maple syrup, wood, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, toasted brown bread, light nuttiness/roast, and herbal/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Nice robustness, balance, and solid complexity of maple, dark/bready malt, and light earthy hop flavors; with a nice malt/bitterness balance, and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Slightly drying from lingering bitterness. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth, bready/grainy, and lightly sticky mouthfeel that is good. A bit stale feeling. Very clean on lager flavors, with zero yeast notes present. Zero warming alcohol for 5.8%. Overall this is an okay Munich dunkel lager. All around good robustness, balance, and solid complexity of maple, dark/bready malt, and light earthy hop flavors very smooth and easy to drink. This hardly represents a Munich dunkel at all. Too much maple sweetness, and not enough toasty/nutty malts. Munich malt presence is lacking. This was fairly enjoyable.

12 oz bottle, thanks Poisoneddwarf- Pours dark cola brown with a creamy light tan head that holds better than expected. Aroma is strong maple, damn, it smells like a maple bar, toffee, and root beer. The taste is maple, toffee, vanilla, cola, not as rich as the aroma led on, balanced ,but so much better than i was anticipating.

I love this beer! It smells of maple goodness and the flavor really pops! Not like other beers that say they have a ’maple’ flavor but then you can’t taste it. Love the balance and not too sweet.

Scipio (1188) - Palatine, Illinois, USA - NOV 25, 2016
Pours a very deep amber, almost brown actually, with a thin, light beige head. The aroma is big on maple, along with caramel, toasted malts and bread. The taste is just like the aroma. Maple is still heavier than the other flavors, its just all somewhat watered down. There is a touch of sweetness from the maple, and has a short maple aftertaste. Medium in body, thinner in texture, and average in carbonation. The heavy maple is unusual and is a little exciting, but this one is just ok overall.

Bottle. Pours a clear dark Amber body with a small fizzy beige head. The nose is all kinds of maple syrup, with some caramel, sweet malt, and toasted grain. The flavor is rather sweet with a heavy log cabin syrup quality. Some caramel, dark wheat, toasted grain, and a little over ripe fruitiness on the finish. Medium bodied with a slight cling and light fizzy carbonation. Meh, maple beers rarely seem to hit the mark for me.

poisoneddwarf (2625) - Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho, USA - NOV 12, 2016
UPDATED: NOV 20, 2016 12 oz bottle from the fall variety pack. Expired five days ago. Strong notes of maple in the nose, along with some dark bread crust, cola, dark fruits. Pours clear amber with a decent beige head. Taste starts out lightly sweet and finishes faintly bitter and dry. Flavor notes of maple, raisin, plum, dark bread crust. Body’s kind of thin and watery/bordering on creamy. Not too bad. Wouldn’t seek out again, though.

Pours a dark brown from a bottle. Smells and tastes like fake maple candy, like that last one in a Whitman sampler. Blech.

Thechasm442 (1005) - Denver, Colorado, USA - NOV 5, 2016
Served in a bottle. Clear dark brown with an average tan head that leaves no lacing. Aroma is maple, toffee, and dark sweet malts. Taste is sweeter dark malts, faint grassy hops, and an aftertaste of artificial maple syrup. Thin and watery. Ok for what it is.

Kleg (384) - The Beach, Florida, USA - OCT 23, 2016
Clear cherry cola color with a khaki head and decent retention. Spotty lacing. Sweet maple-forward flavor with a light smokey base. Smooth. Medium mouthfeel. Low carbonation. Poundable. 5.8 ABV is well hidden. Not as smokey as I like my dunkels, but really good.

Bottle. Brown, like coke cola with a quickly disappearing three finger head. Aroma is strongly maple. Taste maple and roasted grains.
