2012 12 oz bottle with a 2013 date on the neck. Pours a clear, dark reddish-brown with a small but durable tan head.
Good (restrained) level of vanilla, although rather pronounced mid-taste. Excellent, malty/nutty aftertaste. Good sweet/bitter balance. Medium+ body with lively, moderate carbonation.
O: This excellent seasonal was a pleasant surprise. Perhaps my favorite Leinie. robforbes (2237) - Bremerton, Washington, USA - DEC 18, 2012

12oz screwtop bottle. Pours dark brown with a creamy tan head. Expected much worse based on other Leinys but this wasn’t half bad. A bit on the thin side but a nice looking beer and the taste was pretty good. The vanilla was subtle, also had notes of coffee and dark chocolate. Bottle purchased at Kroger in Gahanna. Clear brown pour with a medium tan head. Malty nose with chocolate, caramel and a bit of mustiness. Malty flavor with vanilla and some chocolate. hopdog (12341) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 17, 2012

12 oz. bottle. Dark, nearly opaque, brown with a small, tan head. Butterscotch, burnt toast, and syrupy notes. Sweet up front, with roasty bitterness in the finish. Medium body, sticky, and a little grainy. Overall, this a lackluster porter; not unpleasant, but it lacks complexity and has a weak flavor and mouthfeel. cancerhawk (22) - - DEC 16, 2012
Good aroma, taste is chocolate, coffee, malt. Flavor doesn’t last much, decent porter.

UPDATED: JAN 25, 2014 Bottle->pokal. Dark brown with nice tan head. Aroma has malt and dark fruit. Taste is coffee, chocolate, vanilla, and roasted malt. OK, but a little muddled. ElGaucho (2401) - Minnetonka, Minnesota, USA - DEC 16, 2012
Draft at red robin eau Claire . Sweet roasted malt aroma with a strong vanilla profile. Clear dark brown body. No head or lace. Very nice smooth palate with a really nice vanilla flavor. Not strong or harsh. Very easy drinking. Other than perhaps a little more strength this is a good beer. jsquire (4421) - St. Marys, Ohio, USA - DEC 16, 2012
Very deep mahogany colored beer when held against the light. Thin beige head. Nose of vanilla extract. Very big vanilla extract flavor with a little bit of the chemical/artificial taste that I get in some of the vanilla porters, it is not too intrusive. Some caramel sweetness, milk chocolate, and faint roasted grains, all of which are coated by the vanilla. As is warms there is some burnt caramel corn notes. Not a bad use of vanilla in beer.
