COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The nose will enjoy pepper and gentle roasting aromas such as cocoa and bitter chocolate. After a crisp initial taste, the malt releases more gentle avours. The texture is dry. A subtle acid kick from the roasting aromas leads to the nale: toffee, toast and cocoa notes gently linger. Dominantly malty, slim, dry.

Marduk (7580) - Reval, ESTONIA - JUN 2, 2016
Tap (Lemke brewpub, Berlin). Clear dark amber color. Small size, yellow head, stays. Dirty, faint coffee, caramel, sweet, sourish and tiny bit of vinegar in aroma. Papery and cookies in aroma. Messy one this is. And bland too. And watery. Naah...

chriso (7533) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - APR 7, 2009
Draught at Lemkes Spezialitatenbrauerei, Berlin, March 2009. Didn’t realize this was going to be a dunkel. Not too sweet. Quite tasty. Reddish colour. Some chocolate notes. Not too much caramel. Pretty decent, quite understated, dunkel.

larsga (7508) - Oslo, NORWAY - OCT 27, 2008
Medium white head. Deep dark hazy red body. Roasty dusty malty aroma, very clear and distinct, with chocolatey notes. Dryish dusty roasty malty taste with fruity chocolate pudding/cocoa notes. Thinnish body, slightly watery. Dry dusty milky burnt taste. Nice, and easy to drink. (0.1l taster at the brewpub.)

Idiosynkrasie (7419) - Bielefeld, GERMANY - JAN 19, 2016
355ml bottle. Clear, copperish, faint chestnut colour with average to huge, homogeneous, foamy, fairly lasting, minimally lacing, off-white to beige head. Grainy, grassy, typical Hausbrauerei dark malty aroma with silage touch. Taste is surprisingly different, slightly sweet dark malty, hints of malt lozenge and liquorice. Nothing spectacular anyway.

BlackHaddock (7232) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - FEB 6, 2014
19th Jan 2014 draught 0.3 litres in the breweries large bar under the railway arches near Hachescher Markt S Bahn station. Came in the breweries tall handled tumbler, light amber with a slight haze, white head and a semi-sweet malt leading aroma. Pleasant enough without really doing much. There is a maltiness to the whole beer but it lacked any really deep flavour or depth of character. Refreshing and thirst quenching without testing your taste buds.

Drank twice during Feb 2013 in the Dickenstr/rail arches outlet while in Berlin. Impressed, a deep reddy brown body with a full and lasting white head of foam. Malts foremost in the aroma and taste: fairly sweet, caramel and molasses rule here. Body depth was fine: could have been thicker and ’meatier’ I suppose, but this is a lager/pilsner based beer and that should be remembered when comparing and rating/reviewing beers. By far the best of the four brews on offer during my visits: I do have a sweet tooth though, so this suited my tastes nicely.
