A hazy light yellow pour with a white head. Very heavy clove spiciness on the nose. A touch of bubblegum, moderate banana, and some sweet wheat bread. Taste is also heavy on the clove with a mild banana note. Some good malt and wheat sweetness, mild citrus peel, and a light bitterness.

Dogbrick (14326) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - JUN 20, 2006
Sample at the brewpub: This beer is a hazy yellow-gold color with a medium thin and foamy ivory head with thin lacing. Wheaty aroma, along with a touch of fruit. Light-bodied with a clean mouthfeel. Wheat and banana flavors dominate, along with a bit of spice behind it all. The finish is wheaty with some yeast and hops aftertaste. Average overall.

Nice yeast presence in this one that makes the nose and mouth pop with some banana and clove. Otherwise standard.

MartinT (10155) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - JUL 14, 2010
My Bottom Line:
Citrus fruit, banana esters and crunchy wheat coalesce in this American Weizen’s doughy body, forming a perhaps generic, but quite enjoyable pint.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A ring of foam surrounds the cloudy blond.
-The cushy mouthfeel is one of this beer’s most endearing features.
-Both the aroma and flavour profile are straightforward and well developed.
-Light hop bitterness concludes each sip.

On tap at Kern River Brewing.

riversideAK (6265) - Shoreline, Washington, USA - APR 20, 2008
Yellow orange, hazy with a thin head. Aroma is again light, but has hints of banana and bubble gum. Light pleasant banana sweetness with a touch of wheat malt, clove and a little soapiness that comes through in the end. Finishes with a little wheat/lemon sourness. Thin bodied, smooth carbonation. Pretty decent.

IrishBoy (4254) - Bakersfield, California, USA - FEB 28, 2006
On tap at the pub. Cloudy gold with a thin white head. Hoppy aroma with a whaet flavor with a little bitterness from the hops.

13-Aug-08 (22-oz bottle with a competition label only: Free sample bottle for stewarding the 2008 World Beer Cup in San Diego, CA) Entered as a South German-style hefeweizen, this is a very spicy wheat beer, not a characterless beer with wheat flavor and nothing else. Jumping out are bright spices, lots of cloves, sweet banana and bubblegum, all the yeast-driven flavors you expect out of an authentic hefeweizen. Aromas of dough, banana and clove reinforce the flavors. Medium in body into the finish, but the spices and moderate carbonation are lively enough to keep the palate dancing and feeling reasonably well refreshed. Cloudy, pale yellow in color with a small, whitish head that settles to a thin ring. Nice job on this one.

iowaherkeye (2804) - Ocean Beach, San Diego, California, USA - AUG 28, 2009
On tap @ the brewpub. Cloudy orange with a small creamy off-white head, fading to a film. Loads of banana in the aroma with some faint spicy clove notes. Flavor is much the same with just a little bit of lemon. Big wheat finish with bitterness around a 2 or so. Light prickly carbonation with a medium body. This is not an American Wheat--this is one banana-y hefe.

Storm (2684) - Amager, DENMARK - OCT 7, 2005
On draught. Tasted during trip to California. Yellow unclear colour with a little head. Little wheat and yeast aroma. also yeasty flavour with fuit notes, very common american wheat.
