Brewed once a year, this massive barley wine is made with munich, chocolate and caramel malts, and hopped delicately with Goldings. Its aged in bourbon barrels for a full year to allow the beer to mellow out and mature. The oak provides a dimension of coconut, vanilla and a touch of bourbon. Dark red, low carbonation and great depth, this is one of our most special beers. Enjoy

Definately the best beer in his price range i’ve ever tasted. Bottle from Slijter Paauwenburg. Color is dark black with a tan head which disappears pretty quicly. Taste is sweet and thick like velvet. A bit malty because of the barley but then the bourbon kicks in and leaves you flabbergasted.

Had the beer during the 2016 Kompaan Bloedbroeder festival. The beer looks very good. The color of the brew is dark brown, with a nice ruby red glow in the light. The beer hardly forms any foam. But, for this beer type that is not uncommon. The smell is lovely. It is really the smell a barley time should have. The smell is quite warm. I smell some aromas of coffee, some chocolate, roasted barley, sweet malts and some oak wood. It is all in good balance. The taste is rich and warming. I taste alcohol, chocolate, coffee, some sweeter malts and oak wood. The taste is pretty much the same as the smell. There are nice sweets, bitters and delicate sours from the oakwood. They are in perfect balance. It is a lovely combination with a dark chocolate desert. The palate is nice. The beer has a nice tingly touch, perfect for the taste and smell. On of the better beers around and a beautiful barley wine. Good job.

Piana sycząca, szybko opada do chmurki, barwa mahoniowa, mętna. W aromacie sporo nut bourbonowych, waniliowych, karmelowych, w tle suszona gruszka, rodzynki, orzechy.
Klasa!

Keg at The Pint Shop, Oxford along with Fin, Loz, harrisoni & jjsint. Black with very thin head. Alcohol is the dominating flavour here along with a mixture of cough drops and veno’s. Heavy on the palate and unrelenting. A real struggle for me.

On tap at The Pint Shop Oxford. Black beer no head. Malty syrupy aroma rather good aroma i thought. A bit like an old ale. Some liquorice. Some cola some liquorice. Some malt loaf.

Keg at The Pint Shop, Oxford, Saturday 4th March 2017in the company of John, Ian and Glen. Pours black with a tiny white rim. This is like a low carbonation cola on steroids. It’s a bit too sweet for me, however it’s interesting beer, though as others mentioned it’s a very dark beer. Not totally my thing. A6 A4 T6 P3 Ov12 3.1

APPEARANCE – extremely black, no head & slightly broen around the averages. NOSE – BOOZY!! FLAVOR – a lot of whiskey flavor. Searching past the wiskey, I taste delicious sweet malty flavs. NOTES – I think it would be a bit better if I aged it for a couple of years.
