This double IPA is copper colored and bitter, but balanced by the malty flavors. The 20% rye malt gives this beer a nice bite which helps bring the massive hops together.
Malts: pale malt, caramel malts, rye malt, oats. Hops: Simcoe, Chinook, Amarillo. Aroma: piney, resinous hops, with notes of fresh fruit, spice and caramel malt. Food pairings: salty and fried foods, grilled red meat and Indian curry.

Editor’s note: First served on tap at 7.7% ABV.

Draught at Københavnske Øldage 2011. Clear amber, mahogany colour. Fruity hoppy black currangt aroma. Medium-full bodied with rounded mouthfeel. Lots of aromatic black currant, some caramel. Long bitterness. I much prefer this hoppier Lervig Brewmasters serie beer to the maltier ones.

Bottle in our quirky Oslo hotel. Hazy amber beer. Little off white head. Softish palate but with biting carbonation lurking. Sweetish malt, creamy with a little honey and with some caramel. Nice Rye spice. The hops are fresh and piney but with some bitter citrus and grass. Minerals with some toffee in the finish. Very nicely joined up. A very drinkable rye IPA. Very moorish.
