Dark amber coloured and hazy. Has an off-white head, medium duration. Aroma is sweet malty, old yeasty, dark bread, real nice. Flavor starts moderate sweet and finish moderate bitter. Some sharp notes. Creamy texture and soft carbonation.

Bottle at Amundsens Brewpub, Oslo. Hazy dark red - brown beer. Good pale tan head. Light crisp palate, semi dry. Sweetish malts but with an odd subtle sour sideways kick. A little unsweet chocolate. acto. Dry finish with some minerals. Alright.

Its hazy red-brown with a creamy head and the aroma has notes of caramel, malt, light alcohol and fruit. The sweet flavor has notes of roasted malt and loads of caramel, warming alcohol, fruit and the finish is dry with hints of licorice.

Bottle. Low but lasting creamy dense off-white head. Hazy orange red brown body. Lovely roasted malt choccolate caramel cream sweet aroma. Would have loved to be able to smell the raisins, but so sorry mates I cannot do that. Slightly peppery choccolate caramel hoppy flavor with a high carbonation and a long bitter sweet aftertaste. A hint of alcohol but not too overwhelming.

Bottle, bought @ lbutikken, Cph.
Pours deep brown with some red in the sides. Medium, creamy, beige head. Good lacing. Aroma is sweet, dark chocolate, light milky, raisins, malty. Medium carbonation, fine creamy mouthfeel. Flavour has light coffee, sweet caramel malts that are lightly toasted. Raisins, warming viniousness. Chocolate and light but firm piney bitterness in the end.

Bottle from Vinmonopolet. Pours dark amber with a tiny light brown head. Aroma of raisins, caramel, roasted malt, alcohol and spices. Sweet and fruity with lots of raisins and some spices. Slightly bitter finish. Reminds me a bit about glgg. Anyway its a nice winter warmer. (BF310915)

Mezcalmannen (395) - Oslo, NORWAY - FEB 1, 2012
Dark brown colour and tan head, very gracious lacings. Fruits and actually pastry in the aroma. A bit low in taste, which is also dominated by fruits. But I like how the finish becomes more and more pronounced, it gets a bit bitter in the end. Very low in carbonation. (Bottle)

Clear, medium brown/copper body with an ok sized light-brown head. The head reduces in size quickly, but once settled the head never disappears, and it laces the glass well. The malty, roasted aroma is a bit disappointing: Id expected more raisins. Of course there are raisins and other dark dried fruits here, but equally obvious are spices and alcohol. The taste is medium sweet with a medium bitter finish. Intense sweet caramel flavour, far more noticeable than the raisins. And then there is a stinging alcohol flavour that I dont find very pleasant. The mouthfeel is quite good (medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation), apart from the massive amounts of alcohol. Drinking this beer is a strange experience: I keep longing for the bitter sweet toffee caramel finish, but are still resistant to take another sip, since I know that Ill have to endure 10 seconds of harsh alcohol flavours first.
[33 cl bottle, enjoyed ~5 years before BB date, from Vinmonopolet Vika, Oslo]
