COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Fyldig, rik smak fra ristede karamellmalter, utsøkt britisk humle og rosiner - ingredienser som sammen med vann og gjær også skaper den rødlige gløden og det gyldne skummet. Fyr i peisen, rull ut bjørneskinnet, hell i glasset. La Lervig Winter Ale med sine 8,3 alkoholprosenter varme opp vinterkvelden.

Marstonlad (940) - Helsinki, FINLAND - DEC 9, 2013
Hazy reddish brown color with a little but lasting head. Aroma has dried fruitiness, berries, syrup and spiciness - overall impression is similar with many British Barley Wines. Taste is sweet, malty and spicy. Dried fruits and berries are prominent along with malty elements, alcohol features a bit in the finish. Hoppiness is discreet, fairly mild. Palate is medium bodied and fairly flat. This could use a bit more body and the alcohol made it a little harsh. Not bad though, a warming winter ale.

Kavu (5036) - Helsinki, FINLAND - DEC 5, 2013
0,33l bottle from flagship Alko. Pours hazy brown with a low head. Aroma is malts, alcohol and raisins. Flavor is malts, raisins, alcohol and hops. Quite nice.

Marduk (8219) - Reval, ESTONIA - DEC 5, 2013
330ml bottle. Dark copper color. Small size, white head, stays. Smells woody and sour. Tastes like Belle Vue Kriek mixed with some shitty macro. And I’m totally aware that it’s not a good thing to say to any beer.

Sarpa (1634) - FINLAND - NOV 30, 2013
bottle 33cl from alko @ home. Pours slightly hazy reddish brown with a minimal head. Aroma of fruits, raisins,Sweet caramel, malts, ripe fruits in the flavor. A bit strange.

330ml bottle (Alko, Helsinki)
I’ll separate Anna’s comments, so that if I get a nastygram from the brewer, he can direct them to her, not me. "Green apple - that’s a brewing flaw, ... ewww that’s not very nice". I get a bit of the green apple, but some sour raisins, some acetone or other solvent. Smooth palate, gentle carbonation. Sweet caramelly body, quite a waft of alcohol goes up the nose. More belgian than English, got that heady sweetness. More apple in the finish. Does cover actual alcohol, but alas has replaced that with something solventy. Ewww, don’t let it warm, it gets worse the warmer it gets. It’s a good job Ares left, otherwise he’d continue his rant about us only drinking bad beer.

TBone (18099) - Pori, FINLAND - NOV 28, 2013
Bottled 330ml Alko. Dark amber-brownish color, tiny beige head. Sweetish aroma of wood and caramel. Medium-bodied. Some alcohol in the front. Then raisins, some toffee, bready malty. Sweetish and a bit alcoholic. Belgian dubbel/quadrupel style. At least it is certainly a winter beer.

olio (10469) - Tampere, FINLAND - NOV 25, 2013
33 cl bottle.
Pours clear dark mahogany color with a minimal head. Aroma of ripe fruits, some starch, raisins and caramel malts. Flavor of ripe fruits, somewhat harsh malt notes, caramel, mild hints of brown sugar and some wood. Sweet malty palate with somewhat harsh bready finish.

mikkopen (1192) - Guelph, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 20, 2013
330 ml bottle. Hazy yellowish brown colour, thin and quickly dissipating off-white head. Sweet malty aroma with dark fruits and a whiff of alcohol. The flavour is sweetish malty, with raisins and notes of nuts, and a warm nutty finish. Not bad.

2.9
Brandman (2963) - Helsinki, FINLAND - NOV 20, 2013
Amber body, offwhite hed. Very sweet maltiness and some unpleasant fruitiness. Very sweet and dull. Hides alcohol well.
