On tap at Cardinal 14.3.2012. Looking forward to this one, this beer was presented by the creator Sigmund at Cardinal. Poured hazy amber/golden with a small white head. Initially it was hard to detect any aroma, but as the beer warms up, the picture changes; a solid malty body, a herbal mixture with honeyish sweetness floating on top, spicy and herbal. Taste also evolves from the first sip, this beer must be well temperated to hit the sweet spot for me, lots of spices and herbs in the taste, think i can recognize some yarrow, but it is well integrated, ends more on the bitter side, herbal bitter with some woody notes. Moderate sticky mouthfeel. Nothing too extreme about this beer, but well integrated vitamins, probably healthier than all those vitamin pills.
Alexus (242) - Stavanger, NORWAY - MAR 15, 2012
On tap @ Cardinal, Stavanger. Hazy pale amber in color. Small head with little retention. Aromas full of herbs, Sweet Gale in the high seat. Some flavor of thyme or rosemary? Medium body. Nice bitterness.
On a personal note; I’m experiencing a growing fondness for these herb-ales. I like to call it extreme Norwegian brewing, where it’s used herbs growing in the Norwegian nature.
All in all. I liked it! Leave all your "images of beer" at home and enjoy this. For home brewers, let it inspire you...
