On tap at Cardinal. Pours unclear red/amber with a small beige head. Aroma of spicy malts, wood and raisins. Taste is light sweet malty, overpowered by the spices and resiny fruity hops, nice one with a good herbal bite at the finish.

Dunkel mørk brun farve med beige skum. Lukt av malt og krydder. Smak av malt, humle og godt krydder. Tap at Cardinal.

On tap. Pours a murky, opaque dark brown - close to black - with a neat, creamy and lacing beige head. Very spicy, piney aroma - sorta like Glade Air freshener! Medium body, a subtle roastiness but luckily very dry. I hear cinnamon sticks and cardamom was added, but I mostly get this piney, soapy feel. I’m not a huge fan, but then again super spicy beers are usually not a favourite. 101113

Yes, I was in the jury who voted this "best Christmas beer", but haven’t tasted the commercial version untill now - the beer is now available on tap at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Cloudy brown colour, moderate to low beige head. Unusual aroma of juniper (including juniper wood, not only berries), fir trees and Christmas spices. The flavour is dry and resinous, again plenty of juniper and loads of Christmas spices. Peppery aftertaste. Would go well with the traditional Norwegian Christmas fare "pinnekjøtt", but is also drinkable on its own. An interesting beer, to say the least.
