Lucky Jack is just about the perfect beer for summer. Grapefruit, tropical fruits and citrus flavours from the Citra and Amarillo hops are apparent in the aroma and taste. Now you can have all the flavour of Lucky Jack with a twist: a perfect medley of citrus from the addition of grapefruit juice. It’s beautifully refershing on a hot summer day on the deck or at the beach.

Malts: Pilsner and Caramel.
Hops. Perle, Citra, Amarillo, Chinook.

Aroma: grapfruit and citrus.

Food pairings: BBQ chicken and ribs, tortillas and guachamole, fresh fruit salad.Inspirert av iddisen Senior, Stavanger Norway.

pours golden orange with a white head that don’t stick around too long. Nose is floral with citrus, quite full on. taste is similar with a good dosage of hoppyness. Really good to see a beer that could be sold in the supermarkets in norway with this sort of taste. A good go to pale ale for American taste buds in norway.

Bottle - thanks Gunnar! Dark gold beer. Fine citrus nose, a hint of cat pee. Lemon sherbet flavour, sweetness playing with the hops. Lovely lemon finish.

0.33L bottle enjoyed at Knut Albert’s, provided by gunnar. Thanks mate! Low bubbley blond head. Body is bright deep gold. Pleasant and inviting hop nose; citrus, pineapple and dried yellow fruits. Light and refined malt body, clean and lightly sweet. Distinct fruity and grassy hop bitterness. Clean and rounded in the mouth. Finishes dry with fruity-bitter endnotes. Not very full, but has fine hop charcater and good quenching abilities.

330ml bottle. Nice, deep golden body with a firm white head. Aroma is strong citric hoppy, like peaches, grapefruit, pine and grassy. Flavor is very refreshing fruity and bitter with a moderate caramel malt base. As aroma there is peaches, grapefruit and pines, but also some oranges and soft tropical fruits. The malt base is not too sweet and the bitterness is firm but obvious. Taking in consideration this is a 4,7% ABV compromise beer this is really nice. This is not a complex beer, but it’s balanced and a nice thirst-quencher, cold easily by one of everyday favorite.

UPDATED: APR 14, 2012 On tap at Cardinal, Stavanger. Pours light hazy golden with a small white head. Nice hoppy fruity aroma. Taste is fresh, dominated by the fruity hops, some passion fruit makes this a good balanced brew. Promising beers from Lervig this year, whats next?

33 cl bottle at home. Bought at Vaaland, Bryne. Clear deep golden color, nice and lasting white head. Aroma is lovely foral and citric hops. Flavor has a fine sweetness, fruity hops and a balanced bitterness. Medium body with a hint of metallic. A bit too little carbonation? All in all a very fine APA at only 4,7%. Well done, Mike M.

330 ml bottle (filtered and pasteurised), also sampled unpasteurised on tap, both courtesy of Lervig brewery. Deep golden colour, big to moderate white head. Very nice aroma of American hops (Chinook, Amarillo and Citra - also dry hopped), notes of orange marmalade and pine. Refreshing flavour with distinct hoppy notes throughout, citric and resinous notes, not too sweet, bitter finish. Light bodied, ideally this should have been a beer around 5.6% ABV, but then you have the Norwegian limit at 4.75% ABV for beers sold in grocery stores, making it necessary to compromise. Still, this is an enjoyable beer as it is.
