Had at the Sparks st. Ottawa location. Pours a huge foamy white head and has a nice clear golden appearance. Good lacing. Lively carbonation. Aromas of roasted malts, sweet malts, light wheaty hints and mild caramel notes. Sweet and slightly bitter, malty flavours. Some caramel and very faint toffee. Tingling mouthfeel and a mild warming sensation. Thick malty sweetness on the palate. Pretty good.

Had on my friend Andre’s pub-crawl at the Otawa brewpub. Pours a clean golden colour with a white cap and decent lacing. Good malty aromas with some Belgian Ale yeast. Wet mouthfeel with a little tart. The Belgian Ale yeast is quite present with rye malt and fruity notes. This is a really good malty German brew.

probstblueribbon (4088) - Nepean, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 1, 2012
Pint at rue St-Catherine location. Slightly hazy deep golden with basically no head. Fairly strong, lightly fruity malts, toasty, bread crust, decent Noble hop character, some alcohol, kinda sweet smelling. Medium body, medium effervescence. Fairly nice bread crust, toast, really strong peppery, spicy Noble hops, a touch of odd sweetness, decent; off-dry with quite a bitter kick (particularly for style), and a lightly boozy, decently malty finish. Not too bad, maybe a bit messy kinda.

Une pinte en fût sur place. 27 ibu. 5+/10

Clear darker yellow (orange) with white foam head. Aroma is malty with some spices, some cinnamon. Taste is nice bittersweet with again spicy fragmants. Aftertaste is short lasting. (Montreal 201210)

Whatup14 (2184) - Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec, CANADA - OCT 18, 2012

on tap at brewpub. clear bright golden with a creamy white head, some retention and lacing. pale, crisp, spicy and biscuitied malts, cereals, floral and spicy hallertau, warming alcohol, very light phenols. average to soft carbonation, medium body - oily, very nice citrusy finish. nice!

On tap at Ste-Foy restaurant. Clear, pale orange amber with a nice white head. Smell is oranges, as well as herbal, earthy notes. Taste is sweet caramel, brown sugar, candied fruits, sweet cereals and biscuits. Nice, sharp bitterness. Herbal hops. Tad bit spicy. Lingering spices and herbal notes. Medium bodied. Very good ale, probably the best märzen I’ve had this October.

Nice, tastefull and interesting beer. I liked the special bitterness. But why is it called ’Munich’, there is no relation to normal Oktoberfest beer.
