Bouteille 750ml (#1117).

on tap at Ottawa Wine and Food Show. Excellent example of an Imperial Stout. Dark and brooding with coffee, malts and chocolate on the nose. Sip it gingerly and allow the rich flavours to coat your mouth. Espresso, cocoa, leather, smoke. How did they squeeze the cigar in here?

Drank on tap (12 oz) at the brewpub, on May 1st, 2011. Very black, medium tan head. Aroma of chocolate coffee really malty, well roasted. Taste of dark chocolate cake with hints of strong coffee, a little spicy with a good bitterness. A solid and enjoyable Imperial Stout!

On tap at BDT.
Appearance : Pitch black with a medium creamy brown head. Nice head.
Aroma : Chocolate and coffee with roasted malt. Good amount of resinous hops.
Taste : Chocolate and quite a lot of coffee. Resinous hops. Finish has strong notes of coffee with quite a lot of hops. Nice bitterness on finish. Finish is a bit warm with some alcohol.
Overall : Nicely balanced overall. Not really drinkable but nice sipper. Quite enjoyable.

Enjoyed on tap at the brewpub. Not a bad beer, though not a great representative of the style. bittersweet and emphasing the very bitter. A bit astringent in the finish. Dark and lacey.

Tap: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a small dark brown foamy head with some retention and light lacing. Aroma of coffee and light smoked notes is quite enjoyable. Taste is dominated by balance dry coffee notes, though not overly so, with some light bitter roasted malt notes. Body is lighter then expected with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Good though body is bit light for the style.

Draught at the brewpub. Pours black with an average size diminishing frothy light-brown head. Lovely aroma of roasted malt, coffee, dark chocolate and lots of leafy hops. Flavour of roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, again lots of leafy hops, some alcohol and a nice roasty/bitter finish. Medium bodied. This is how I love my Imperial Stouts!
